An absolute geezer. Had a great rapport with the North Stand and our travelling support in those days. Always gave the metaphorical 110%. In my top three Brighton players of that era along with Johnny Byrne and Garry Nelson.

Lodged with me for a number of years and my kids adored him. Lovely guy, helped raise money for their school team. Welcomed us all to Canvey when we drew there in the cup - the day Brady’s of quote “if my grandmother had balls, she’d be my grandfather”.
He deserved his move away and it was a shame things didn’t turn out better for him in a higher league.

Seem to remember he wasn't a big keeper but certainly a "springy" one. One of the team from my first season 87/88, I can probably still name that whole squad. Fantastic memories.

Manningtree stuck at bleedin Manningtree and missed his debut along with a load of other Albion fans. We were all crowding round someone’s transistor radio to hear how our new keeper got on. We only lost 1-0 which was an improvement for us that season.

People always argue that player's careers are short, and they have to do what's right for them, which is absolutely fine, I have no problem with that. I don't really have a problem with JK leaving twice, but I have a bit of a problem with making out he's a club hero, or that the club should find him something, as he was just a guy doing a job who left the moment other opportunities arose.

We got nearly a quarter of a million for him when he went to Oldham. We sold John Byrne for similar a couple of seasons later.
Good old Barry Lloyd did his best to claim that JK, Keith Dublin left us in the lurch. In reality both were made clear we needed money and we needed to cash in.
Don't forget that Bazza also looked surprised when Gotsmanov 'chose' Southampton. Despite us never actually making him an offer to sign permanently for us.
I'm not having a go at Lloyd as he was doing what he needed to do as the face of the club.

Thats a fair point, I'm sure the club did need the money.
But I don't see much difference between JK leaving and Caicedo or Cucurella leaving. I don't begrudge any of them a move for more money or a bigger club etc. I just don't see any of them as hero's or great club servants, they were just guys doing a job. I also get that some people do really like JK, which is absoultely fine as well, I wouldn't have said anything, except for the comment about the club finding him something because I don't think the club owe him anything.

When he was here as a goalkeeping coach he also acted as asst kitman and drove the minibus for youth team games. He only got paid one wage not 3. I would say there were many people during the withdean era who went above and beyond..some act as hosts at the club and some don't.
In his retirement especially when he came late into the game and played for non fashionable clubs in an era of lower wages, that he will need some form of additional income. I didn't see this as some sort of campaign just a passing comment
Part time coach and also kit man being underpaid. I didn’t doubt the man…. Considered him a good mate back then.
Playing careers yes, but careers in football not necessarily, as Keeley’s recent retirement demonstrates.
