Having the ceasefire start a couple of days before the Parade means that Russia will be unable to stop themselves from breaking that ceasefire as they have done with all the others. Then that means that the ceasefire ends before the parade and Russia will be worried about an attack - whether Ukraine are planning one or not.

This could be a red herring (apologies if so), but I googled what you asked, and I came up with this:
The article is a year old, and so relates to radar on Russian naval vessels, so doesn't answer your query about radar on jets.
(Old git googling stuff he doesn't know anything about).

Very interesting, thanks 👍🏼. I've been a bit busy lately so have been 'lazy' on the research stuff.
So "It doesn't emit much heat, so it's almost not visible to thermal imaging cameras. It is made of plastic, so even radars have a hard time seeing it," he said.

I'll have more of a Google tomorrow.

Looks like a remarkable weapon though - very long range, big payload, internet controlled. 👍👍🏼

That's a good observation.

Russia's clunky command and control means that any ceasefire will take a while to put in place while the orders trickle down the hierarchies, and that's in the unlikely event that they actually want to stick to it.

Excellent. Ukraine 'cannot guarantee the safety of foreign leaders in Moscow on May 9'.

The 72 hour ceasefire proposed by Putin is becoming the gift from heaven.

It seems from this that Vucic and Fico have had to pull out of the parade. Hope a few more leaders have cold feet too. That said, I don't think Zelensky can put at risk the lives of foreign heads of state in Moscow - even unfriendly states.
The city has probably always been well protected because Putin needs to keep the reality of war away from the big population centres — but recent assassinations of senior military personnel show that it’s not as safe as Putin would want it to be

It seems there was rather more to the Crimean operation than was originally thought.

It was a combined arms raid and there were two planes destroyed, not one. This from David Axe.

I think it’s the re-run of the Romanian election this weekend - previously suspended due to alleged Russian interference. Hopefully Romania will remain in the pro Ukraine camp.

Not so sure they will.

At 17.30 evidence of military supply flights for Ukraine, from US, increasing. Probably that 50 million purchase...
Plus footage of a Ukrainian cargo plane, in Arizona, being loaded up with F16s
Plus approval of refurbished Patriot system going from Israel to Ukraine👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Well worth watching all of this 👍👍.

For me, the choice cut is at 22:40, where Moscow Marge, speaking for the Maga-base, turns on Trump, and Alexander Dugin quotes her. Delicious.

Putin, after a disastrous war, had the perfect off-ramp to save his own life and save Russia. An acquiescent Trump wanted to do deals with him FFS.

Has Putin made the biggest strategic mistake of all?
Has Zelensky played a blinder, by challenging Putin to a 30 day ceasefire, in the expectation he wouldn't/couldn't accept it, because it came from Zelensky?

I didn't see yet that Dugin had quoted Moscow -Maga -Marge...maybe she'll stab Trump in the back. She speaks for the base!!! , another narcissist 🤦🏼‍♂️.

And remember that the 30 day ceasefire was pushed and pushed by the US, so it's excellent from Zelenskiy that he keeps re- saying it 👍

Very interesting update - strong evidence that Ukraine downed TWO Su30 jets with marine drones, rather than the one initially reported.
Russian reports say other (unspecified) damage occurred; says Ukraine launched 20 marine drones in the attack, many (some?) of which were taken out by Russian FPV drones (video footage,).

Interesting they have been asking for more air defence but not been given it and their view is because Putin and his generals don't care, same with civilian casualties. Why would you fight when your leader couldn't give a shit about you?

Yes indeed, Eric, it seems that Putin is blind to any option other that continue the war - he doesn't care how many of his people die, and it seems no one else in his regime/elites cares either.
The US should now be able to see this clearly.

The war will only end if
- Russia truly fails economically
- or there's a coup (I expect there are other options?)

Interesting, the post from Secret Squirrel, about the lack of Russian manpower/equipment on part of the front in Zaporizhzhia - at some point Ukraine MAY be able to capitalize but Ukraine's frontline resources also very stretched.

As effective manpower becomes scarcer for Russia we'll sadly see more daily launching of drones, missiles, glide bombs into Ukrainian residential targets.

Yep, maybe for many because they're on a pardon from prison, but the rest...?
Most air defence is probably around Moscow, St P, some weapons and oil storage, plus mainly around Putin's palaces.
