Not just younger drivers...Why are younger drivers so dead set against using indicators (turn signals)? ? ? ?
Regen? Why is it dangerous?Assisted brake whilst on cruise control i switch off. That dangerous
But this is the point. Even for short moments, Lane Assist takes control of the vehicle away from you.Yours, I would've thought, because you're in control of the vehicle.
Oh, I get that. But, technically, you are still behind the wheel, so the buck stops with you (I think). Also, I've never experienced a lane assist that can't be overcome with sufficient force to stop it going where it wants to go. A bit like cruise control, it can be overridden, no? The only instances I can see where there could be a claim is if the ADAS malfunctions.But this is the point. Even for short moments, Lane Assist takes control of the vehicle away from you.
I admit my experience is in my lorry, to sensitive harsh brake if something flies in front of the truck. Slamming on brakes as your following the road because it picks up the chevron signNot just younger drivers...

I'm not saying it's right, by the way – and many ADAS technologies irritate the hell out of me. Especially when I'm jumping from car to car and I can't figure out the reason for the car bonging or flashing something. If it makes you feel better, most of the manufacturers hate it too, but know they need to include it to comply with regulations and Euro NCAP ratings...
On a similar subject, I'm curious about the following;
My car has Lane Assist. I have to turn it off (it always start as ON default, which is annoying), as it can be genuinely dangerous at times.
Example;
Driving on a fairly narrow country road (trees either side of 50mph road), and you get stuck behind a cyclist. You wait until a safe point to overtake them. Lane Assist notices you are moving over the middle line and pulls you back onto your side. A couple of times this has almost resulted in a collision (with cyclist, or another time with parked cars). It affects your driving and can genuinely make situations a bit more dangerous.
If Lane Assist pulls me back in lane and due to that I then scrape a car, whose fault is that? What's the insurance situation?
