It's like the worst aspects of Farage, Johnson and Truss have been allowed to plow on, completely unfettered until we have arrived here (we being the West). And I really don't know how, or if there is any way back from here. There are now only a very small number of players in world economics and we are no longer one or part of one of them. I'd suggest keep our heads down, let the major players play out and see what happens and what crumbs we can pick up:shrug:

But for anybody who still wants to blame stupid American voters for this, we really weren't (and still aren't that) far off, are we ???

Sadly ‘commodities’ that are all very dispensable in the Trump administration - Trump will just disown them.

Sorry but after years of Trump courtroom 101, with two impeachments, numerous indictments and him and his minions being chased through the Courts, months of delays waiting for appeals to the Supreme Court, even with convictions and co-conspirators imprisoned, what changed?

The fcuker still got back into the WH to wreak havoc - charges and indictments dropped - I’m just so fed up with the Rule of Law constantly flouted and delegitimised, I am rapidly losing any faith in the judiciary to check the increasingly unfettered power of the ‘Executive According to Donald J Trump’.
Yes - but if underlings keep getting shafted, sooner or later his support runs out.

Unless you are American.
In which case, good luck.

In the US you need to get half the population duped, here you can get a majority in the mid-30s.

I think we're more vulnerable than we realise. A lot of people never learn

If I was a US citizen I'd be looking into any means of moving overseas possible to me.

Do you have a couch?

btw, Our Mayor, Jon Costas, a Republican, (Valparaiso, Indiana) was just sited in an email by Trump & Vance, I believe, for spying on someone who works in the Maricopa County (Arizona) attorney's office back in 1997 when this attorney from Arizona was in Indiana. Trump must be doing some payback for favours done in Arizona.

Any level of disruption and push back on what they’re doing is welcome, surely?

He might win either way, but he definitely wins if nobody fights.

Oh I agree, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying they shouldn’t fight back - Trump’s opposition, whether be the Dems, the public, lawmakers, Universities, MSM or even a few Republicans should gegenpress and not stop gegenpressing.

And we also need to keep some perspective here too I think …

Without rehashing a line of argument that has been put to bed, the American people still have strong bipartisan political representation in Congress, it is not a one-party State, it is not under military rule and the Judiciary is still largely independent of the Executive as is the Press. Trump’s efforts to overturn the Election failed and the Jan6ers imprisoned.

Despite people’s fears, Trump will not get a third term (unless America is engaged in a full scale war - in which case we would probably all be doomed!) - the American people generally revere their Constitution and it would take an extraordinary act of Congress (and 2/3 majority) to overturn term limits. The Midterms are only 18 months away and the Republicans could easily loose the Senate if Trump’s approval ratings stay as low as they are.

May not have midterms if there is an 'emergency' declared....!

'Lock them up': Senator calls on Supreme Court to enforce Trump order with jail sentence

One Democratic member of the U.S. Senate is urging the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) to enforce its recent order on President Donald Trump's administration — even if it means putting someone behind bars.

On Wednesday, Colorado Newsline reported that Sen. John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) is now expressly demanding the nation's highest court force the administration to comply with a contempt ruling.

"The Supreme Court’s got to step up and say, ‘All right, we’re going to start holding people in contempt of court.’ They have the ability to sanction," Hickenlooper told the outlet. "They can take the people, the officials who deny any culpability or any responsibility, they can bring them in and force them to testify, to come to the court. And if they don’t come, they’re in contempt, and then you lock them up."

Time for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts to grow some real balls and earn his position on the Supreme Court and hold his fellow justices to the Constitution they also swore an oath to.

Disappointed in that name. Surely he needs a middle initial and some Roman numerals to make it more USA! USA! USA!

John D. Hickenlooper III

How long till Trump really goes after the media? Sure this is next in the fascist playbook...
I think it's started with excluding a journo from White House pressers who asked questions that Trump didn't like; plus threatening CBS with loss of their broadcasting license after their 90 Minute interview with Zelenskiy (nothing controversial or nasty in there either).
Just a little taste of what could be coming sadly.

There were another 3 independent media outlets barred from the WH press conferences a couple of days ago. Before too long, it'll just be Fox News sitting there....
