Kash Patel was removed as acting ATF director, U.S. officials confirm​

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -FBI Director Kash Patel was removed from his role as acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and replaced by Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, U.S. officials confirmed on Wednesday.

Patel was sworn in as acting ATF leader on February 24, three days after he was sworn in as FBI director, a role he continues to hold. It was unusual for one person to be tapped to lead two major Justice Department units at the same time.

A Justice Department official confirmed Patel's removal and said it had nothing to do with his job performance. The official did not say why Patel was removed.

It is unclear how the leadership change at ATF could affect the way it regulates the firearms industry, or why Driscoll was tapped to lead it.

Well, he seems to be working his way through Project 25. So far, the following would seem to be on his to-do list

1. Further restrictions on abortion including revoking licences for certain drugs
2. Elimination of teacher tenure, and other education system shake-ups
3. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission
4. The rescinding of certain federal labour restrictions and revising overtime regulations

I'm sure they'll be many other surprises along the way though

the only surprising thing is that anyone is surprised, it was all written down, in Project 25 and the Americans were told numerous times what he would do, yet they happily voted him in and now they are surprised that he is doing exactly what was said he would do

I can see moves towards complete a abortion ban, revoking marriage equality and any LGBTQ "rights", Affordable care act will be gutted.

Somehow the Americans have been convinced that a plethora of things that are actually good for the vast majority of them (universal health care, employment rights, welfare, anti discrimination, reproductive care for example) are somehow bad. It seems huge numbers of ordinary Americans actively vote for things that are going to cause them personal financial, and mental trauma
