[Albion] Club cancelling ST due to non-attendance

Most of my mates think the club are a bit Barry BigBollocks on this matter. Whilst they might be accommodating to those with illness, if you’re working abroad, travelling etc for a period and it will be a struggle to get to home games in person (but you’ll still pay for your ST) then will they be accommodating?

Most wouldn’t want to run the risk of losing their ST because of this and feel their £s aren’t as valued as others.

I know it’s rules blah blah blah but we’re the ones who have been and will be here come what may with the club and are hacked off with the tone PBOBE and his minions take to supporters.

i love the club but the obsession with money is crass. And it won’t improve the atmosphere.
Not sure the ST holder absenteeism issue is really primarily about money. Its about filling the ground rather than selling more pies as i understand it although it might help obviously . And all the attempts to resolve that - the exchange, encouraging ST holders to turn up, sharing tickets - don't really raise revenue at all. Club argue it actually costs them ££.
I think there's also many examples on this thread alone - but certainly elsewhere - where the club has been accomodating to a very high level with all sorts of unplanned for issues that would cause long term non attendance, not just illness.

But you're right the club is also a business - one of the biggest in the City now and run like one , results primarily improve atmosphere (running the club like a business helps with that ultimately i'd say) , some things are out of the clubs control (some of the transport issues), and sometimes the sanctions for breaking rules are harsher than they probably need to be and there's the odd - and its pretty rare - account on NSC and anecdotally where they might have been applied wrongly - so if you're on the end of that . Then fair enough.

Not sure overall that all the long term fans are that hacked off btw. Well this old bastard isn't ha ha.
PS: bit harsh to call some of the ticketing and customer service team at the Albion "minions" . I think we can all agree they do a very good job even if the policies and rules they're having to work with aren't to universal liking.

I was calling the senior management minions (as per its meaning).

I’m not hacked off with the football and that’s my driver for attending. I just do not identify with a lot of things the club seem to view as important - for me I’d rather more of a promotion on the Foundation, community work etc too, not just The Terrace, Amex card holders and hearing from our CEO far too much. Yes we’re doing brilliantly but change the narrative once in a while.

As for the club getting things wrong, they’d suggest they don’t.

I think the Leicester game coincidentally is going to be the Foundation Day at the club - i saw a poster about in the loo at the Villa game.

That one's easy to overcome. Unless you're suddenly told you need to travel on the day of the game, you just need to put your ticket on the exchange before 2pm the day before the game. Black mark avoided.

I have this many times before but from my experience the club have been very understanding and accommodating…twice in fact (illness and re-jigging tickets when my father died). If you have a genuine case I really doubt they’d be an issue.

I actually felt the club went beyond my expectations.

Well your mates just need to learn how to take 30 seconds to list their ticket on the exchange. It really is unbelievably easy.

That’s fine, but what about the quota of games they’re expected to attend in person?

Putting on the exchange by 2pm the day before the game counts as attending.

There is also a clause that a season ticket holder has to attend 25% of games in person or they may not be able to renew the following season.
That’s not the case if you look at the screenshot I posted from club website #870

I can’t believe how many times we have to keep going round in circles on this issue.

I think Ted Hastings quote is appropriate on this bloody issue …

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey, can we just move this thing along before it drives us all round the bloody bend”.

Sadly, I thinks it’s a bit too late …

Both clauses apply. The ticket must be used for 75% of games (either in person, shared or listed on the exchange). The ticket holder must attend 25% of the games in person. This is a screen shot from the T&Cs for 25-26 season.

In which case the club should include - for avoidance of doubt - the 25% requirement on the page on its website which is headed ...

Important changes for season ticket holders Changes will come into place from the 2025/26 season and beyond.

It only mentions the 75% requirement. I'd suggest that the website page is the page more likely to be read (I think it might have been linked to in the renewal email) than the full T&Cs. Anyone not personally attending 25% of matches (unless medical) probably shouldn't have a season ticket anyway.

Well, quite. And to shake off the local 'football tourists' who don't even support the Albion.

I would imagine that the new rules have already affected renewal numbers, but they will have even more of an impact when they actually kick in.
Agree…….I also meant the club probably read it on here………..
