[Albion] Brighton & Hove Albion vs Nottingham Forest *** Official Match Thread ***

Been a long time since I’ve seen us bullied and looking second best for big parts of a game. Struggling to blame the International breaks. Forest were more up for it than we were overall imo.

Disappointing but bizarrely I have felt worse after league defeats this season

Don’t feel that we were unlucky, just outmuscled by a very confident and compact Forest. Losing 50/50s all over the pitch was not great to watch.
Sums up my feelings. The injuries last night could cost us but beat Villa and NOT lose to that lot up m23 will keep us on track

That definitely feels like salt being rubbed into the wound. Last night was the worst possible outcome for us. Long, draining match, key injuries, possibly a dent to the confidence of the squad and nothing to show for it at the end. Just horrible.
Yeah that's kind of how I'm feeling this morning after being OK with it all last night. Although I do trust hurzeler to get us fired up for the rest of the season.

Another thing that's irritating me this morning, apart from the hangover, is that Palace are in the semis after a very easy run then Fulham who I trust we would've beaten, and forest are there are beating Luton and then bloody Exeter and Ipswich before us, both also on pens. I know it's tha nature of the cup, but our run was about as tough as it gets, which is pretty frustrating considering the opportunity to win the thing is never likely to be as big again. and to get forest after Chelsea and Newcastle was I think the toughest fixture we could've got in terms of how they suffocate teams like us.

Why do people feel the need to turn on our players after a loss. In the last couple of pages we have coated Adingra, Gruda, Hinshelwood, even João Pedro and Mitoma are In the firing line.

We lost to a really good team who played better than us on the night because we were not at our best. We probably need to take this one on the chin and move on. It's not the refs fault, it's not any one players fault, it just didn't happen for us.

Was that Mitoma’s twin brother out there tonight, he was miles off it. That’s the most disjointed performance from us in a long while, didn’t win enough personal duals, poor ball retention, only really started to play in the second period of extra time. Disappointing…
Mitoma wasn't great. But he was better than any of the other front four that started

If Rutter out means Gruda gets a run I look forward to seeing how he develops. There is a player in there.

Hopefully Dunk stays fit and finds form quickly.
Disagree don’t want Gruda anywhere near the first team , too lightweight, should be out on loan

Assume you mean João Pedro?
Van Hecke as a second striker would be niche
You didn't sit through the last 10 minutes of the Everton game where we had Webster up front and Pedro at left back?

I haven't read this thread, partly because I knew how the 'blame game' would play out. We weren't horrendous, but the better team won. Shit happens.

The thing that really annoys me this morning, we beat Chelsea , away to Newcastle, then put up such a insipid performance in for a quarter final ,

They were not the better team , and the match was awful too watch , they were just better in the penalty shootout than us

Brighton
Their Head Coach out thought our one and we didn’t respond to their formation.

Unfortunately too many of our players underwhelmed but some had travelled all around the world.

Hopefully a reset and UTA

Not feeling any better about this today. several players put in a stinking performance that has cost us a real chance of a trophy, compounded by how well our rivals are doing. We played Forest at home without their talisman, and resting their 2 best wingers for the first hour.

We managed 2 shots on target in 120 mins. Piss poor, however well the opposition played. Some good defensive work, but that display from all of our attacking players was absolutely pathetic.

Crowd turned up, players didn't unfortunately. Bollocks.
