There are still at least 12 games left this season and football can change very quickly. He needs to keep being ‘ready’, he’ll get his chance. It may well be this Saturday with Lamptey suspended I can see Jack going to RB.
Is Lamptey suspended this weekend then? I'd assumed it was the FA Cup game he missed as it was a second yellow and bookings count towards the same competition.

1. Cautions issued (and any suspensions triggered by an accumulation of cautions) are restricted to the competition in which they are shown. [By accumulation I mean across multiple games - not in a single match].

2. The suspension triggered by a red card is served across all domestic first team competitions. A red card for two cautions means that neither caution is counted in terms of accumulation as per 1. because instead they result in an immediate ban, served in the next first team match (in whatever domestic competition it happens to be).

As of now all of Georginio, Veltman, Webster, Baleba and Gomez have one caution in this season's FA Cup {but not Lamptey} so if any of the five get booked in the Q-F I believe they would be suspended (if Albion progress) for the semi-final.

Seagulls signing could leave after one season
Brighton midfielder Matt O’Riley is attracting the attentions of clubs in Italy.

talkSPORT has been told Roma are one of the teams eyeing a swoop for O’Riley, who has endured a difficult first season in the Premier League.

Brighton appeared to have pulled off a coup when they paid Celtic £25m for O’Riley last summer, but the 24-year-old has been limited to just 14 appearances for the Seagulls.

His cause was not helped by suffering an ankle injury on his debut in the EFL Cup against Crawley before returning after two months out to score the winner against Manchester City.

But a separate knee issue has hampered his progress and Denmark international O’Riley knows he needs to be playing regularly ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

They will try and get him on the cheap, and we will say no

I can see a loan situation next season.

I think he is behind Pedro, Georgi, Gruda and possibly Enciso or Facu at No.10 next season.

I suspect he’ll be behind Baleba, Gomez, Ayari, Hinshelwood, Wieffer and possibly Yalcouyé at centre midfield next season.

He needs first team games to get up to speed in the EPL. I’m sure he can reach the required level but currently, his route is blocked.

Wouldn't be the worst thing. If we can get our money back. Or a successful loan to either get his value up or bring him back when one of the others moves on.

It was sound in theory, and elegant young Gross replacement. But Ayari nicked his spot and kept it.

Should have gone on a half season loan to the Championship to get match fit and up to speed for EFL football. Could do that next season, but if we can recoup most of what we paid for him I suspect he'll be off.

We have literally no idea how good this guy is or could be thanks to the ABH in his first 10 minutes in the stripes. Yet some of the finest on here are shipping him off after less than a season. Absolute prime NSC.
Talksport click bait are shipping him off. The finest are responding to it not being the end of the world as we have lots of other options. The finest also talk about loan options to get form back and all sorts of other things.

It wasn't just the Crawley injury. He's then been off for the second half of the season as well.

I'm agreeing with those saying that if we sold and got somewhere near the money we paid for him it wouldn't be a disaster. Or more intriguingly a season loan to another league, take the loan fee, let them get him fit and firing. We'll see the season after that.

I'd personally be far more bothered if we were looking to ship out Baleba, Hinsh or Gomez.

Central midfield, or the in behind the striker position, (i'm still not sure where he plays best) are the areas we have the most depth.

I think we signed a lot of players in a short period of time, Ayari effectively was a new signing as he'd come back to us. I think trying to bed everyone down and build a team to play is difficult. I'm pretty confident that next season, the majority of the players here now still will be and we'll benefit from that familiarity. Hopefully we can get O'Riley (and everyone else) fit and fully available for the full pre-season programme. We're going to be dangerous next season if we don't have the same injury curse we've had the last two seasons.

Fair play to Ayari,he has taken his chance.I really like him.O’Riley, has been unlucky,Honestly though, will he ever be first choice?( others coming back off loan ).And will he accept that situation?I think the conversation will be had,and if it’s mutually agreed, then he will leave.I also reckon one or two others will be having the same discussion. These young players will not want to be with us if they perceive their career is stagnating ……

I was told (no idea if it's true) that the club have been very careful around his recovery and are fairly fine with the minimal part he's played this season providing he returns to the levels that led to us buying him next season. It was a horrific injury, the first of his career, and that he's available now is remarkable - why push him if he's not fully ready and we have personnel to cover.

At the same time, my personal belief is that whether this is the case or not, the club have ended up with a bit of a bloat in central midfield for next season and they'll listen to offers for MOR if they come in at the right level and the move works for all parties. Weiffer's time out of the team looks to have made him the more settled of the two and you can understand his place in the squad far more than MOR's.

I think a lot rests on two factors:

- whether we will be playing in Europe
- whether we make any big sales (Baleba, Mitoma and João Pedro particularly)

There are a lot of young fringe players, who will hope to be included in World Cup squads, and will be asking for playing time or to be sold.

Can the careers and reputations of Adingra, Enciso, Ferguson and O'Riley take the hit of another season on the bench?

Luckily these lads are still worth a few bob, or at least if they are sold for low upfront fees we could negotiate a lot of add ons and variables.

So the Europe point is valid. That would be a definite extra 8 games and potentially getting on for 20. Under those circumstances, you can probably afford to have 6 CM's vying for 2 slots

Agreed. I think the club would do well to basically give MOR and Kadioglu a full pre-season before expecting too much from them (which they may well be doing). At the moment we're well stocked again in midfield, so no need to rush at all

Which given our injury rate (which probably won't change very much unless we train less intensively) probably translates to an average of 4 players available at any one time. I'm expecting Baleba to leave this summer (unfortunately) so we need to maintain depth. Agree it's going to be almost impossible to keep all our midfielders happy though.

Agreed, players kept or shipped out are in the balance depending on whether we get into Europe or not, as is the spend on new players in the summer.

Have to confess that O’Riley has disappointed me so far but he did have a really nasty injury. Patience may well be required.

Disagree. We don't have a permanent injury crisis, but have done for the past 15 months or so.
It's been well trailed on here that RDZ didn't do intense training, and multiple sources from within the club indicate that FH does have an intense training regime. That means it will take time for the squad to adapt to this new regime. Other squads have done it, notably Liverpool under Klopp -- after a bad start, their players managed to train and play at high levels of intensity across 60+ game seasons.
I see no reason why our squad won't adapt to the new situation, and there's a case to be made that this is already happening after a bad two or three months at the turn of the year.
