The injury he has had mean that no judgements can be really made for the first half of the season.

For the second half, he's been in and out with injury, so again it's hard to say, but one worry is that i'm pretty sure Hurzeler had a go at him for his work rate in one of the home games, then he hasn't been seen much since.

I think he's got to get fit, stay fit and play for a while before you can conclude anything

Yalcouye is far too lightweight (physically) to play the Baleba role. Would need to spend time in the gym.

He was doing so well that we considered recalling him in Jan.

Matt O Riley has so far - for various reasons mostly out of his control - started just 5 games for the Albion . So i'd say - the jury is clearly out.

And speaking of positivity, no it's not about closing down forum discussion. I bloody love good healthy discussion. But it's about giving people a fair chance.

Same with all the new signings, the manager, senior staff or whoever. I feel as a supporter we should support the team and give people a chance before we write them off.

We clearly can't judge this player yet as he's been injured.

I've absolutely no idea if he'll be our next "Jakhanbash" (which as someone else said is a boring 4 year old reference). Let's hope not, but the idea that you, I or anyone here can work out he's crap, when he's been injured or on the bench, compared to the money and time spent by the genuine experts in our recruitment team is laughable.

Has it been disappointing? Yeah watching Crawley nearly destroy someone's career is disappointing.

Would it be nice to see him more? Yes, as with Ferdi and half the squad that's been injured.

Am I disappointed he now might struggle to get into the first team because our other players are playing so bloody well? Well, less so.

Any player (perhaps Gomez the exception) needs a decent run in the team before we'll know where they sit.

All I ask is we don't write players off immediately. Our model means getting people from other leagues, or younger players and adapting them to the PL. That takes time so let's give the guy a chance.

He hasn't had a disappointing season, he's had no season at all.

I completely agree that he (and presumably Tony) will have been disappointed that he hasn't had the opportunity to show us what he's capable of.

At this point in time, I don't think we can make any judgement. But we can hope that he gets fit, gets strong and makes a massive impression on the Prem.

To date he looks a poor signing. His build is a worry. Not sure he is Premier league quality. Considering he is in his prime not good.

Then you’re completely missing my point.

This isn’t about writing him off, as I’ve repeatedly said it’s simply too early to judge, in response to your initial comment about him being a ‘good player’.

He simply hasn’t proven whether he’s good, bad, average or otherwise at this level, he did in Scotland absolutely no doubt, but that is completely different.

Whether he’s being carefully managed or otherwise, he’s not starting very often so perhaps FH doesn’t fancy him I don’t know. Hopefully, he’ll have a good preseason and can effectively start again.

I predicted he would be the best of the summer signings having seen him for Celtic quite a bit.

Don‘t get me wrong - I love Matt O’Riley. If for no other reason that his attitude is exemplary - bouncing back from Fulham release, taking responsibility of being main man at Celtic and most of all his determination to battle back from injury with zero self pity.
He will put this season behind him and cut it in the Premier League, hopefully with us.

There are still at least 12 games left this season and football can change very quickly. He needs to keep being ‘ready’, he’ll get his chance. It may well be this Saturday with Lamptey suspended I can see Jack going to RB.
