I'd rather give my ticket away for free than see it go unused if I was unable to go for any reason. At the moment I can't do that.
I agree and have done this in the past where I've been (very rarely) too ill to attend.

I just genuinely don't understand why the go to thought is that a fan who uses the exchange would therefore immediately be flagged as "gaming the system". You don't get to be in tier 1 by not going to games so I believe in assuming positive intent and that those who get tickets and couldn't go have legitimate reasons for that. Iit makes no sense to doubly punish a fan for wanting to do the right thing.

In that, I can only see the ticket exchange as a good thing, even if you ended up having people abuse the system because ultimately it allows more people who can attend to attend. I don't understand why you'd put in place barriers to try and disincentivise fans from doing that if they couldn't attend.

Agree. Genuinely can't see anyone in T1 being a 'points harvester'. I guess someone might occasionally buy a ticket when they're not 100% sure they can attend but they're not doing that for the points (and if they don't attend they don't get them anyway) . Given the club come down so hard on anyone caught transferring away tickets it's about time they provided a way of legitimately transferring them

Sydney .
I'd say that there is a case for these games that sell out within 5 minutes of tier 2 opening that those games carry zero loyalty points. It's just making the gap wider and those games are the very few which are essentially a closed shop. Being guarenteed a ticket to Palace, Brentford, Muff, should be reward enough for a tier 1 without getting even more points on top.
Could take a step further and I'm going to lob a grenade in here.
If there really is a genuine a desire to share it out, make the likes of Brentford 2nd Bournemouth MINUS 15 points

I think my argument was quite logical. There is already a punishment in place (not receiving the points and potentially dropping down a tier) and then to be double punished by being charged £10 (which goes straight into the coffers of our record breaking profit football club) for doing the right thing is an absolutely insane proposal.

The world we live in is that it's give and it's take. If I couldn't go to a game for whatever reason, I would want my ticket to be used by another fan. I would happily take time out of my day to put it on said exchange and forfeit the right to go to that game. What I wouldn't be happy about is if I was then charged the majority of the ticket cost to not go! It's not a fair exchange.

Now, you've created a hypothetical fan who doesn't go because they want to but does so to stay in tier 1. They not only don't particularly care about watching their football club but they actively deny others from seeing the Albion by buying and not going to sold out fixtures. They weren't willing to attend for £30. Why would they be willing to take extra steps to not attend at the cost of £10 when they could just not use the exchange and not turn up? The money clearly isn't a worry if they're happy to spend £30 in the knowledge that they may not go, so why would they want to use the exchange at cost?
Because if I were setting the rules then they would be frozen out of the next away ticket purchase.

People are missing the primary point - this is about filling the away end. A refund for the original purchase is just a bonus.

That's an odd way to look at it. Not getting the points is not a punishment. You get the points as a reward for going. If you don't go you don't get the points. It's not a punishment by any stretch of the imagination.

Should be a limit on how many times you can do it as well, this situation has only come up three or four times since COVID, so there shouldn't be an option for everytime.
I agree. I don’t think @mile oak will though :lolol:

What if I wake up on the morning of a game and …….<insert a ridiculous and unlikely hypothetical story like have been abducted by space aliens for the 5th time this season > …..“

It's a punishment because you fall out of the top tier very quickly if you don't continue to amass points with others and then lose the opportunity to do this bizarre hypothetical dance of buying all the tickets and returning them.

That's more sensible than thinking people will use the system that leaves them out of pocket and without a ticket at the end of it all.

At the same time, it's another way to disincentivise the system's use. It should be open and easy to use, and you shouldn't be punished for using it. We want fans to get tickets and go don't we?

The only suggestion I've seen that I agree with is a limit on the amount of times you can use it in a season. We obviously all want a system where, if for whatever reason you can't go that ticket can be legally passed on so someone else can. I think as long as the reasons are legitimate (and that the club assume positive intent as the first stance, not look to punish for it) then why would we try and put barriers in the way of that ticket going back on the market and sold to another fan?

Normally by now we'd have had a few appear on re-sale. Comps and the like.

Have this happened and have I missed it or are we still waiting impatiently? I'm sick of refreshing the ticket website.

Usually comps and returns pop up in the week leading up to the match so would expect them next week.
