A Hurtigruten leaflet fell out of a magazine (not Razzle) I'm subscribed to, which looked interesting- basically a ferry service.
Hi

yes it is.

my brother in law and wife did it a couple of years ago.

they were really happy with it. You fly to Norway and pick up the ship and yes, it works its way up the coast stopping off at loads of ports as it is basically a post ship. The cabins and food were excellent

one of the quirky things it does is you may visit 3 or 4 ports a day just for a small time. Also they took excursions whereby the ship drops them off and the coach or train catches up with the ship at the next port….

they did the northern lights thing but said the really odd visit was to the Russian border which is in the middle of A frozen lake and you were under no illusions that if you stepped over the “ border line” you would get shot at! Everyone was very respectful of where they were.

hope you enjoy it

And here is the SS (not SB) Ollanta, built in Hull, disassembled and rebuilt on the shores of Lake Titicaca in Peru. I've been on it, or one similar.

Found this on a Navy site

A difference from a boat and a ship is a boat has 1 floor/level and a ship is classed anything more than 1 floor/level.
Decks 🤦 Typical Wafu i assume 😉

Edit and a sundoger will be along soon to remind to that all UK Boats have several “floors” 😂

That was a direct quote from Navy.net, I wasn’t impressed either.

i am guilty of many things, pointy end and arse end being two of them but I never used anything other than deck for the floor. I still have a tendency to use ’deck’.

I’m still getting over @Pliny the Gull referring to carriers as barges! I have kindling.

I know, i’m only kidding 😂 Do we think they’re ready for bulk and deck heads yet lol

I know but I was actually offended when saw it on navy.net, I mean ’floor’ … wankers.

I’m going on cruise in May and have yet to decide whether I go ultra ‘anchor face bastard’ and annoy the good lady with Jack speak.

And what about flats along the Burma Way?? My flat was always the shiniest! I have no idea why they were called flats??
One of the more interesting Thursday nights i spent on a 42 was cleaning the flat that was on route to the Wrens mess whilst alongside at Dog Shit City, I volunteered to clean the flat overnight to get an early Friday finish and head back to Brighton.

As you can imagine as the ‘ladies’ started returning in dribs and drabs the fun started, I had one triple crown, one sick and a couple of propositions.

Incorrect. My point was an Aircraft Carrier, or a barge are neither ship or boat, purpose built for what they are. I think ?

The definition referring to the number of decks covers it. Carriers are ships.

A barge is.

a long flat-bottomed boat for carrying freight on canals and rivers, either under its own power or towed by another.
