Would Uncle Tony's arse twitch like a haddock just pulled from the sea at this thought? Yes.
There'll be a fair few of those on March 19th...

This sort of signing has to be a possibility if we lose Welbz this summer. With so many young players in the squad, I really thinks we should be replacing experienced pros like Lallana and Welbz with other (slightly younger) experienced pros.

If we’re also signing the Johnny Brazilian and the Otávio Brazilian, this signing could really make sense to form a lovely, neatly trimmed, threesome.

If I understand it right he turned down an extension. Not the same as for Welbeck/Lallana in other words... this bloke most likely wants to go to Saudi Arabia or something and get a fat last contract. Not going to get that in Brighton.
Yep he will be looking for one last fat payday. The complete antipathy of the sort of player that we will be interested in.

On the Football Daily Radio 5 Live podcast they paint a very rosy picture. The say he's much loved at Liverpool, he's not up himself like a lot of his contemporaries and there will be numerous clubs lining up to get the 31 year old in England and overseas. Of course he won't come cheap though.

I know a few very knowledgable Liverpool fans who reckoned Firmino was the absolute engine behind their success. They absolutely loved him, and still do.

Could he come to Brighton and do a job? Yes.

Could he make every player in the dressing room ask for a pay rise after seeing what he's on? Yes.

Would Uncle Tony's arse twitch like a haddock just pulled from the sea at this thought? Yes.

I have no answers.
I would dispute your last point. I don't think Uncle Tony has those sorts of thoughts. If there was no chance of it happening he wouldn't waste the time.

Normally I'd say 'it has got Everton and West Ham written all over it' but swapping red for blue might be a problem. This will get Beaky exited as a possible Dibley replacement in his quest to secure investment.

Reports he is being offered out to PL clubs with Fulham and Sheff U mentioned. CF/ST obviously isn't one of our priorities for strengthening and he's no spring chicken at 32, but I think he'd definitely be a worthwhile addition to our squad. A really intelligent player who should pick up De Zerbi's style easily and would be a great influence on Joao Pedro and Fergie. Two former teammates already here as well. I'd love to see him turn out for the Albion, even if only a deal until the end of the season.

No thanks.
It would likely take him til the end of the season to get up to speed.
He was never that good in the first place - his stats were flattered by playing in a good team.
And it would be one too many 30 something ex-big team stars

These aren't the players you're looking for.

I guess you've never taken the time to really watch him play if you think he was never that good. Have a look at this lot.

Yes, it's nice to have a team of youngsters running around, but you can't beat experience. A job share with Welbeck would really bring on our up and comings
