In a pile of football shirts
Groß Cruyff/Groß turning, repeatedly, and doing so against Ajax.
I really hope that when he does his first Cruyff turn at the Cruyff Arena that he celebrates it with a fist in the air or somesuch.

I have never seen a referee be so 'in the way' as this guy was. He kept taking up positions that a player would clearly want to be in and he ludicrously, sometimes went ahead of play. The twat was offside twice :ROFLMAO:
Yes, we commented on the regularity of him being right in the way of our passing lines.

It was great when he did a one two with Lewis Dunk.

Well observed Ryan applause by the Ajax fans and they all clapped when Velts was announced in the line ups.
Dunks header back was superb.
Gross doing his turn in the dead centre of the pitch had a touch of novelty.
Steele appearing to applaud the crowd for giving their Goalie the "your shit aaah" treatment.

My mate arrived a few seconds after kick off and jokingly asked me if he'd missed anything.
I told him he'd missed the entire away support all stand (they were standing anyway) and as one they loudly applauded the name of Joel Veltman as he was announced as part of the opposition team.

I genuinely think this was a class act by the whole Ajax support.
Quite touching really ... maybe because Joel is one of my favourite players! :)

Pizza? Do tell me more
We’re in the SW corner, the little raised section above the wheelchairs, and at the bottom of the stairs into the concourse there is a kiosk that sells hot and cold (non alcoholic) drinks, crisps and sweets and 10 inch margarita or pepperoni pizza. They‘re ok, not brilliant but literally 20 foot from my seat in a little used kiosk.

Milner, around the 75th minute, letting out a full-blooded roar in frustration at having made a run, twice, and the ball not coming his way.
I read NSC and I reckon that happened – or didn't happen – because some posters think he's shitehouse.

That excited rumble that went around the Amex when we were awarded a free kick in a great position just outside the Ajax penalty area in the second half and the ball was immediately given to Lewis Dunk.
Seeing your lovely brown boots you wore.

Ajax fans. The ones I spoke to were friendly

Some non-footballing ones:

Sidwell's chant. I didn't see him, but I guess he was around the NW corner going too or from the pitch at half-time.

The big screen having a wobble and showing 'Extra time' at 43 minutes and then 'GOAL' on around 87 minutes.

The Dutch translation of the Europa League 'keep football fun' message and Bobkin Jnr and I trying to work out whether it was Richie Reynolds doing both of them, or just someone who sounded like him, but a bit louder and more excited.

Andrea 'Procrastination is the thief of time' Orlandi at half time (I can't believe that's the first time he's been back to the Amex)

All the above (particularly Mitoma's two touches from the long pass by Steele), but in the second half, in front of the East stand Veltman, under pressure, beautifully heads a ball dropping from the gods straight down the line to a Brighton player. One of those micro moments of a game that not much turns on, but is a piece of skill beyond something any fan in that stadium could do.

Brighton were dominant against Ajax, recording both the most passes (788) and the highest possession (65%) of any opponent Ajax has faced since April 2014, with striker Brian Brobbey commenting after the game that ‘We have to be realistic – Brighton is one of the best footballing teams’.

Something strangely impressive about Akpom’s zero touches in 15 minutes. Is this really true? Nice work if you can get it.
As impressive as his 60 mins against Blackburn in that nervy 1-0 win against Blackburn back in 2017? When Hughton finally subbed him off for Hemed it was as if the ref had rescinded a red card during the game.

What a day that was though. A late winner for us, then the excitement that Hudds were being held 0-0 by Burton followed by massive cheers throughout the concourses when Burton scores a late winner. One of my favourite Amex days.

My personal highlight was finding no food in the west stand concourse just before the game, then at half time having a piss then wandering between to two counters to try and get my pie, then going back to my seat a little bit dejected when I thought it would take too long.
