I said in the summer that Chelsea and Spuds will gain as a one off hugely from a week's prep/rest for most PL games. I bet rarely, but some interesting odds just now, @LamieRobertson should take a look.

Double your money on Albion not making top 6.
16/1 Spuds win title
150/ Chelsea win title (they're buying Osimhem and Toney in January)
7/1 Arsenal win title
Effectively 6/1 Albion not top 10.
He’s busy grass cutting (soon as he finishes his Graze Honey bar)

Certainly wouldn't want him to play there every game but he was fine against Luton and Wolves.

In the cool light of day analysts/writers looking back on Wolves say they should've put the game to bed. We (thankfully, as it's often happened to us) were the classic muggers.

Luton at home - from under the Amex police/security box first half their irritatingly quality forwards had Milner on toast. Was that the game where he moved to CM after HT? Asking @hans kraay fan club .

Milner's been a great player, but imho only has the legs now for CM.

He was really poor in that Luton game. Browsing NSC that evening, in the glow of a comfortable 4-1 opening day win, I was gobsmacked at the almost universally positive comments about how great he was.

He was caught under the ball 3 or 4 times - he seems completely lost whenever the ball is aerial. The pass inside him is always wide open, because he's slow to turn, and his man is able to easily drift off him.

But he did FLY into a couple of 50/50 challenges (mostly completely unnecessarily) and got involved in a bit of shouty stuff, and people seemed easily pleased by that

I gave him a high player rating on the afternoon, as I'm a sucker for getting swept away with an Albion win.

Later realising he'd been shit at FB, but very effective in CM second half. Falling for the recency trap too.

It’s his relationship with Mitoma in the opposition half that stands out …not his defensive play ..imo

Lamptey has done ok at LB recently. Estupinan is brilliant in the opposition half but does get caught out of position sometimes.

I think his game has altered. To me he was a far, far better defender than Cuckoo. Pace to burn, a destroyer eg at Bmuff away last season when they upped their game 0-1 behind. Whilst also being brilliant on the counter or counter-press (who cares here), popping up in the Chelsea box during the Amex destruction of them.

This season eg West Ham at home, first half Bmuff at home, Estupinan seems to be camped out 70 yards from our goal with Mitoma in static play. Leaving the great plains behind to be attacked.

I'd love a student of the game eg @dazzer6666 to comment whether they've noticed the above. Or am I barking?

Yep that’s how I see it…and I was referring to this season.

Typical. The one position we didn't get cover for in the summer.

This rotation malarkey doesn't seem to have reduced our injuries....
I’m one for establishing a rhythm, by swapping players in and out I’m not sure you reduce anything except gradual fatigue… oh and fluidity obviously.

Indeed, paradoxically as you begin to lack rhythm you possibly increase the risk of injury… this is why players coming back from long spells out often suffer other injuries… okay, a little rest can’t always be bad, but if fit I’d rather play every game…

Thus far our somewhat haphazard selection/rest policy has done little but disrupt our flow and push more of the squad to play out of position, again increasing the risk of injury…

I’d always start strong and rest people with earlier subs etc. but then again, what the f*** do I know 😂

Pervis is a huge loss… I dread to think what will happen when we inevitably lose Tariq… igor at fullback is frankly going back to the dark days of Gary Hobson 🧐
