So glad not to see Dier. That would've been beyond parody.

On the Border
How on earth Maguire gets in again without playing first team football for so long is absolutely baffling
Gareth's reasoning, lack of caps in other players selected, needs the experience. But how do you get the increased experience if you pick someone who hasn't played competitive football this season.

Just play Dunk and Colwill as the central defenders and you have a partnership that has worked.

Brighton factually.....
Would love to see a back three of Colwill, Dunk & Tomori
You know what, once upon a time I would have agreed with you, now I have no faith in the muppet in charge, a half decent manger with the courage to make changes to the squad before and during a match would have beaten Italy in 21 and would have beaten France. I have zero, zip, zilch confidence in him, his tactics, he is dire in interviews reminds me of Potter, just dull from top to bottom.

It's interesting that Sterling is a man reborn under Poch, was clearly MOTM vs Luton yet has been dropped by Southgate who has commented "Raheem isn't particularly happy about it and I understand that. I'm convinced he's going to have an excellent season at Chelsea."

All very predictable from Waistcoat...

I love Solly but come on, look at those forward options. It would take a seriously special run of form for him to break into that team. But a Steele call up would have been fun, he's certainly no worse than Johnstone.

Southgate completely discredits the whole thing by picking Maguire & Phillips, particularly Phillips. He has barely played any football for over a year now - it's a joke. And Henderson continuing to be selected sets a pretty shitty precedent in regards to Saudi transfers

Once again, Southgate underlines his credentials as to why he shouldn't be anywhere near England's selection, let alone tactics.

Maguire hasn't played for Manchester United at all this season.

If he's not good enough for his club, he's not good enough for his country. His continued selection is mystifying.

Southgate is an absolute clown.

March and Sterling have both started the season on fire, no look-in at all. Instead, Rashford and Eddie bloody Nketiah get the nod.

Phillips and Maguire will simply not be game-sharp and even if they were they're still not good enough. Henderson well that's just another thing altogether.

Think about the future and blood some of the younger lads if there's nobody else available other than these two. Our youngsters weren't all that bad last month were they. Ben White should be ahead of Maguire and has started at CB in all of Arsenal's matches so far.

Sterling omission is baffling - a former Southgate favourite and in blistering form recently.

Sterling is a mystery to me. If anyone wants to search my posts - and I can't be arsed - there are plenty about how Sterling is finished. Done. Etc. Clearly, I got that one wrong as this season he has been superb.

How come he gets picked consistently when he is playing like a pub player but left out when is at the top of his game?

Also, one left back. If Rico Henry is in the big 6 he gets picked.

Southgate said players had to be on form. Maguire and Phillips you say?
