I stumped a Brexiter yesterday when he was ranting about the ECHR. I asked him if he admired Sir Winston Churchill and Boris Johnson.
He didn’t reply so I gave it a few hours and then pointed out that Churchill started the ECHR, and Johnson’s maternal grandfather was involved for over 20 years, and President for 10 of those years.
This wasn’t for his benefit because he knew it was right, but for his ‘followers’.

The Tories seem to be following the same playbook as the Republicans in the States and lurching ever further to the right, showing less compassion and determined to erode hard won human rights. Some of my Republican friends in the States say that party no longer represents them and their beliefs and I'm sure some Tory voters in this country are starting to think the same about the Conservative party

I can't see that happening. There are quite a number of Tories who would be horrified at the prospect. Not only would it put us on par with Russia and Belarus, it would also screw up the Good Friday Agreement and our Brexit deal. The more sensible members of the government know this

The removal of rights is happening at a frightening pace and the British public is just sleep walking into it. We have already lost our right to protest, a fundamental basic of democracy, and no one has barely mentioned it, highlighting that the media will only communicate what they are told to. Labour have already said they wont reverse this. Now this. Whilst climate management is obviously very important there is much being proposed that will seriously restrict freedoms. The most disturbing is food management and the risk to independent farming. Control the food, control the people. Synthetic food to protect the environment the logical next step. Digital currencies are on the doorstep and mean your finances can be turned off by the flick of a switch. The WEF seem totally batshit crazy bond villain mad, are talking about chipping everyone into a dystopian AI horror show where everything and everyone can be monitored, and they carry huge weight in western Governments including the UK.

For 2 hours I had hope when Sunak was made PM, but then he appointed Braverman and it was obvious nothing would improve, some things are getting worse.

The Blukippers in charge are desperate to turn the UK into some sort of uber divided society just like we have seen in the US.

I hope the public don't fall for it, but just look at the state of our dysfunctional media incapable holding the government to account. Its never easy for the opposition.

And there lies the issue - the next GE the Tories will highlight the word European without explaining that the ECHR and the EU are two entirely different entities. The only link being that to be an EU member you have to signed up to the ECHR charter.

I believe that we were the major contributor to the charter. It was essentially, a British concept.

Now watch as the foreign owned right wing press hand in hand with the Tories attempt to gas light the nation into believing that it’s essentially another part of the EU that we need to leave. So many uneducated souls will buy that hook, line and sinker.

I feel sorry for the Brits who put months and months of work into that charter to make sure that it suited Britain and was dominated by our preferences, values and standards. This government stinks.

Planning permissions don't apply. Look at the 'Solent Freeport' All 'sounding very positive' about Southampton, but why does the area include the New Forest? Greenbelt? What Greenbelt?
The Tories talk about Freeports as being an innovation but Cameron ditched them in 2012 (so were allowed in the EU) They will end up being tax free money laundering areas, with no rights for the residents.
