We have a family do coming up in a few weeks and have family coming from all over, including a few from Europe. The do is in Portslade and I'm looking for recommendations for a hotel for a few people. I'm thinking Shoreham to Hove to save them trying to get into (and Park!) in Brighton.

If NSC doesn't know where to go then I'll be reduced to those complete amateurs, Google

Thanks in advance

The ginger pig do very nice bedrooms above the gastro pub in Hove street . It’s not a hotel as such but the bedrooms are 4 star boutique standard

The arse end of Hangleton
Never stayed there but have eaten and drunk there - The Gather Inn on 'Portslade' seafront. Know they have rooms and they might even be able to wave to FBS !

They do, although they are also on a main road right next to a pelican crossing that bleeps when the green man appears. Always busy though, lots of tradesmen seem to stop there in the week.

The Princes Marine further along the seafront and further back is ok. My mum’s stayed there a couple of times when she’s down.

Must be very downmarket, wouldn’t happen in Hove
The Gather Inn most certainly is in Hove. Fatboy and Joel’s road, about 200 yards due south as the crow flies are in Portslade. And further west and back across the harbour is Hove again. No, me neither,

Some of these are continental. They certainly wouldn't be impressed by my standard of breakfast, even if I have moved on from a cup of instant and a fag in the last 40 years ???

Old Tollgate at Bramber could be an option.

My dear old mum lives next to Vale Park, I was dragged up in North Portslade, you want some ? :glare:

But obviously not the posh bit where @Harry Wilson's tackle was from

Don't tell me I've got to the point where only @Westdene Seagull and @Guinness Boy takes me seriously anymore ? I really need a recommendation for a hotel and I'm constantly being pulled off topic.

I'm off now and when I sign on tomorrow I expect a list of Mile Oak/Portslade/Southwick/Knoll/Hangleton/Fishersgate's finest

Shoreham Beach
Might be worth looking at airbnb. There are properties where you can book out the whole place, often in out of the way places and quirky places. I have seen houseboats listed for Shoreham Beach and there will be some places around Portslade no doubt.

My wife and in-laws run The Gather Inn, her Dad and Sister are also North Stand season-ticket holders. Sure they’d look after your family if they have rooms available during their visit, worth a call!
