[Albion] Time to do a deal with Chelsea

One of the issues for Moises appears to be that his agent makes Charlie Kane look like Mino Raiola. He wanted to move so his agent signed him up to a long contract with no release clause - and if we believe the press there was some kind of "gentleman's agreement" he would be allowed to move. Signing that contract was naive in the extreme.

As it stands though there seems to have been little in the way of noise from Moises camp in agitating for the move - aside from the usual minor social media rumblings. Given as you said he overcame his wanderlust in January may give Albion fans hope of him doing the same for the coming season.

Bloom is playing a somewhat dangerous game though as preventing an elite young player from moving on will set alarm bells off when signing future prospects. Agents and players will be aware of the Caicedo situation and in future may well be reticent to sign for Brighton, or at least ensure a suitable release fee and/or wage improvement is in the contract. The modus operandi has thus far been to acquire some of the best young talent under the promise of first team playing time and a big move. Are we seeing a seismic shift in Brighton's strategy, or is Bloom simply seeking to extract maximum value from this deal? I'd wager the latter.
How about a different version of events. Imagine Caicedo doesn't want to move to Chelsea and is not desperate to leave, knowing that after another season of dominating he will be top of most clubs wish list next summer and will be able to choose which title challenging side he joins rather than being stuck at a Chelsea side he joined just for the money.

I don't think we would ever stop players moving on but what we don't know is how Caicedo feels currently and staying at Brighton is hardly a bad prospect for him, especially considering that Chelsea may not play European football for a few more seasons

No, I was simply interested in the Brighton fans perspective on the numerous deals and whether you guys think the various players are worth the fees and so forth.

Congratulations on your ascent into European competition. Be interesting to see how the club copes with the extra games.
I think we all wonder about that. It is the biggest challenge faced by clubs who have rarely qualified for Europe like Burnley and West Ham.
As to player valuations I don’t think that question can be answered. Neither Chelsea nor Brighton fans know the plans of either of our clubs ie the value to them of a player. We don’t know the thinking of the managers nor the views of the recruitment teams. You either want a player or you don’t and the finances are left to the negotiating teams. Unfortunately all this stuff about player valuation has become an egotistical argument between social media fans when the reality is it’s not our money.

😂 Just because you may routinely go to football matches, it doesn't make you a better supporter than me or anybody who doesn't routinely go. Some of us have busy lives and stuff to actually do besides visiting the grounds of football teams
Oh dear. I'm all for rival fans coming on here to express their views - but please try to add some value. Maybe say something interesting?

PS: Free tip: if your time is so precious that you can't get to see an actual football match, why not save some of that time by NOT posting on here? Just trying to help...

Problem with that is Chelsea are one of the only clubs who can afford your currently inflated price. If you're asking for even more then what option will he have - Saudi? He ain't getting into Real Madrid's team.

And it's fair if Bloom values Caicedo at.100m because its his asset and he can value it however he likes. I'm just saying his not worth 100m and I wouldn't want Chelsea to spend that
If Rice is worth £105,000,000, Caicedo is at least comparable.
the “price” reflects the fact that we don’t want to or need to sell him, so you would need to pay silly money to get him.
And Tony Bloom is FAR from cheap. And he won’t be bullied or intimidated in to letting anyone go cheap. When selling, he gets what he wants.

Not many sides will pay the fee for a player who has only played little more than 1 season, however after he has another season his value isn't likely to decrease and he won't be stuck in a side struggling to keep their squad together as their players realise they are a long way off of returning to be title challengers

He's priced high because we don't want to sell him. Sure, make us an offer we can't refuse and we won't refuse it, a la Cucurella, but otherwise, he's not for sale. When we DO want to sell, maybe when his contract is running down and we have his replacement ready to go, then we'll negotiate a perfectly reasonable fee with the buyer, as in the cases of Bissouma and Trossard.

Good grief.

Posts like this make me think we should have an away end on this site.

My dear friend, I hate to tell you this and it will most definitely come as a shocker, but Chelsea at their very worst and in the gutter, still have 100x the appeal of a Brighton at their very best.

Asking a player if they would trade Brighton for Chelsea, is liking asking a chef if they would trade working at their local chippy for a 5 star restaurant. The answer would be swift and easy

Brilliant, I love it when fans are so blinded. I guess we will never be able to sign any player from Chelsea as they as so far superior a club...

Abramovich has gone and Chelsea are only spiralling out of control. The revenue will be enough to bring them back but it won't be instant

You mean market price. I honestly think if you actually offered the market price we'd turn it down anyway this close to the season.
