Recently, every Ashes series has felt (for England) like an ending. This one feels like a beginning for this team.

Only regret is it wasn’t next summer, reckon another year of Bazball tweaking and we’d have had them.

It was a great series. Ponting reckons both teams take credit for that, but the truth is it was because of Bazball. If we'd played the way the Aussies do, we'd be drawing the tests.

Ponting also thought 2-2 was a fair result - funny he'd say that, when they cheated for 1 win, and only got a draw in one because we had 2 days of rain. I'll always remember us winning the 2023 Ashes.
I agree with Ponting in both cases. No teams dominated properly. The Aussies weren't defensive or boring, they made less mistakes, scored quickly and took on two tough run chases

In more than 50 years of watching ashes series that was the closest I have seen to an England whitewash of Australia. Should have won the first test, would have won the 2nd if Bairstow hadn't been "run out", and OT must go down as the most one sided drawn test ever!! The most moral, moral victory in the history of sport.

And who will get us the 180s once Bristow goes

Now that all that silliness is over we can all enjoy the Hundred. I'm sure it will be just as enthralling
I’ve yet to watch more than 2 minutes of that competition.

Dominated properly - no, but we were the better side. The Aussies weren't boring (well, they were in their first innings at the Oval) but England weren't ordinary, it was them that made it exciting.

Yeah, I feel the same about it although I have seen more than 2 minutes, if only on tv. It seems odd to have the T20 and the 100 so if it’s a choice for a live short form match then I prefer to watch Lancashire than Manchester. I’m sure a lot of you feel the same about Sussex and Southern Brave. Nothing beats test cricket though and never will.
