Back again - feeling seriously flipping old.

I have cancelled Netflix - surprisingly easy.
&
Have signed up for Apple TV - surprisingly difficult.

All through my Firestick.

I now have the Apple TV shortcut.
I have done all the bank details.
I'm fully logged in - email password etc.

But I am only getting what seems to be the '7 Day Free Trial' version.

Will I have that for all of this week, and then does the platform 'open'?
Or have I just been a doddery old tosspot who can't function in the 21st century?

Do you have an iPhone or iPad?

if so, go into App Store, tap your avatar in the top right then Subscriptions. What is showing in there?

No.

But on the Firestick App:-

Scroll across the top to settings.
Above 'general' is Accounts - my name.
Click on that, past Sign out, pword settings, add new acc, to.
View Subscriptions - click"you don't have any subscriptions".

I think I've found the extra bit I needed to click on.

I didn't seem to be able to get to it from the Firestick, but found it from t'internet.

There's a new 6 part documentary about a wrestling school, if that's your sort of thing. I enjoyed it.

I'm enjoying my trial and there is some surprisingly great stuff on Apple TV.

Loved Pachinko and Bad Sisters. Thought Severance was absolutely gripping. Looking forward to getting my teeth into The Big Door Prize.

I switched to an Apple TV device recently. My TV is generally working fine, but the memory is very small (and the supposed expansion with USB stick didn't help at all). This means some of the apps don't work properly. I also have a subscription to Broadway HD which isn't available via TV app.

One benefit of it is that 'itunes extras' work. These only work on apple devices (apple tv, macs, iphone/ipad etc), but not on the apple app on TVs/other streaming devices. So if you buy films from apple TV/itunes and they come with extra features, it's the best option for accessing them on TV - a few of the films I own from apple have alternate versions (directors' cuts, black and white version etc) that I would prefer to be able to watch on my TV rather than my macbook.

I watched the film Tetris last night.
I think I'm now going to need to catch some reviews in order to help me work out if I liked it or not, lol.

I think it's 'problem' is where it's good it's 11 out of 10 excellent.
If you've cast Roger Allum to play Robert Maxwell you clearly are seriously good at your job, it's just when you've done that the rest can't live up to it.

I did enjoy it and really enjoyed the quirky nature, I dunno it just all felt a bit rushed.

I feel like two other posters could review it with opposite opinions and I'd agree with both of them.

High Desert follows Peggy (Patricia Arquette), an on-again-off-again addict who decides to make a new start after the death of her beloved mother, with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, and makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator.

The first three episodes will air on Wednesday, May 17, followed by new episodes weekly, every Wednesday.

I watched Tetris this afternoon. Started like a house on fire, but soon got rather bogged down with lots and lots of rather tedious arguments in drab Moscow offices over selling the worldwide rights. All the double-dealing done my head in a bit.

Toby Jones and Taron Egerton do a LOT of heavy lifting for this film, they were both excellent. The Maxwell aspect was interesting, and I'm always a sucker for 80s nostalgia. But ultimately I found most of it largely a bit of a bore.

Saw it last week, enjoyed it at first then found it repetitive and irritating.

Very meta.

Looks promising:

The adaptation of the award-winning novel from Mick Herron, Slow Horses follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 due to their career-ending mistakes. Led by their brilliant but irascible leader, the notorious Jackson Lamb.

Starts on Friday.

With Gary Oldman and Kristin Scott Thomas.

We haven’t even had series three yet, but we’re getting news that the fourth instalment of Apple+ TV’s adaptation of Mick Herron’s celebrated espionage series, Slow Horses, has made some significant cast additions.

Hugo Weaving, Joanna Scanlan, Tom Brooke and James Callis have signed on for S4 apparently .

I've started watching The Last Thing He Told Me.

Bit of an unravelling pot boiler, 2 episodes in and could go either way.
I've no knowledge of the book but Josh Singer is involved.

But what could, and let's face it, will be, it's raison d'être is Jen Garner latheing big lumps of wood only wearing dungarees - woof and indeed woof.

Because Iran is my 'weird crush' country**, I've started watching Tehran and am rather enjoying it.

**Bored at work I found myself rather randomly thinking about this thread, which goes some way to explain why Im inquisitive towards Iran.

Funny the places your brain goes to when it's got feck all going on, and you don't want to face the horrors of reality.

I have Tehran to finish tonight and unless they badly poop the bed it was excellent.
Very engaging and well told with just enough twists without getting too silly.

After Shrinking it's easily the next best thing on the site.

Hijack is fun.

I'm having to ignore some honking great big plot holes but the drama is very dramatic.
