I still believe Cucurella is a very talented player. Some excellent players were made to look very average in that Chelsea team last year.

62 million was certainly overpriced and a great deal for us but if someone could pick him up for 30m and provide a better environment than Chelsea has I'd say that would be an absolute bargain and would thrive.

Logic would suggest this. However, if he doesn't get off to a flyer at Newcastle it could be a problem. The chaos at Chelsea was good for nobody but is he mentally tough enough? When we got on his back at the Amex he really didn't like it.

Pep probably thought he was worth just less than half of Haaland
I don’t think it works like that. Players don’t really have relative value in terms of ability alone. You have to factor in circumstances like contract length. Man City’s £30m bid was never going to entice Tony into selling one of our best players at the time who was tied into a long contract. I think Newcastle would be a great move for him and he is definitely good enough. Chelsea was just a bad football move for him (or anyone) but he wasn’t to know how bad when he signed.

Yep.

He could have gone to City 12 months ago, for £32m and now be seen as a treble winning bargain worth at least double what was paid.

Yeah you're probably right but I see the current Newcastle team like ours, we'll balanced, well coached with a good environment. He may well flop but I suggest he would look much comfortable and able at Newcastle

You could see him visibly crumble.
It was great, especially when he had to walk past the north stand once he’d been subbed.

30m would be about right if he’s in good form…..not an absolute bargain imo

Think he'll do well if he goes to Toon. You don't become a bad footballer overnight, and he was exceptionally good for us. Clearly he just needs the right conditions and he'll probably get what he needs up there.
I agree. Little Ted will get a tune out of him.

Must admit I wasn’t 100% comfortable with the abuse he got in that game but unfortunately for him he was somehow dragged into the anti-Potter, anti-Chelsea fervour. By bringing in an inflated £62m to the club he actually did us quite a favour.
