I believe what you are referring to is called theodicy.
According to the Bible, when God made the world everything was good. He gave us free will, and now we are living with the consequences of our free will. Sin has affected everything. Most suffering in the world today is caused by people. There is more than enough food to feed everyone, but people are starving. Is that God's fault or ours? Hundreds of thousands have died in the Ukraine. Who's fault is that?
Sorry but if the god you describe is real, then yeah its his fault.

Bingo.

Why did you choose the bible and not the Qua'arn or the Torah?
Because of Jesus. I'm so impressed by everything he said and did, and the fact that he rose from the dead, how can I not want to be his follower?
Presumably, you have spent an equal amount of time studying each before you made you decision?
I don't need to. I've seen how good Jesus is. I know enough to know that no one else can hold a candle to him. Every religion repositions itself with respect to Jesus, even the ones created before him. They don't do that for Muhammad or anyone else. But yes, I do know a bit about other religions and continue to study them to a certain extent.

If we are honest we are probably here because we fear that you are in danger my friend. Free yourself and look outside a dusty old book.
If that's true I appreciate that, although you don't need to worry. When I became a Christian I faced fierce opposition from my family. They hated the fact that I had chosen to be a Christian, insulted me and tried to stop me from going to church, but I knew it was the truth.

I've got no beef with you. You stringly believe what you know to be true. The thing is though so do many Jew's, Moslems, Hindu's, witches and every other belief system on earth.

IF you are right then you'll be in paradise forever and the rest of us will suffer damnation in hell. You will all sit up at the feet of Jesus and say, "yes lord that is a just punishment for them not believing in you. Isn't that right Donald, George, Jacob?"

and God will say "Hang on are you eating shellfish and wearing wool and cotton together?"

What's not clear? Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except by me." That's from John's gospel.
In the book of Acts, Peter says, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
That should answer your question I'd have thought.
Regarding different offshoots of Christianity, I don't think it matters what denomination you belong to as long as you follow Jesus. I'm not even all that sure as to how to classify myself. I am a Christian, but what specific kind? Well, I'm not a Roman Catholic and I'm not Eastern Orthodox, so does that make me Protestant by default? I used to go to a Roman Catholic church when I lived in Turkey because there was no alternative.
When a child is born with health issues never able to communicate and they die young, they never get the chance to even comprehend religion so how do they follow Jesus?

When I have sadly had to go to a funeral of a child the vicar said we are all God's children and he will take us all into his arms. What gives?

Brighton factually.....
I have no need to be here. I'm not trying to be "right", but I genuinely do believe that your soul is in danger. I'm listening to what everyone says, and putting my opinion out there. In fact it's not my opinion, it's what the Bible says. If you are so convinced it's all a load of rubbish, why are you getting so worried and upset? I'd have thought you'd be more chill about it.
Another condescending reply.

My soul is NOT in danger, that is a horrible heartless thing to say.
I am not worried or upset, I have no issue with religion if that is what people want to believe then crack on, as I have said before, I can see it has in most cases good moral guidelines for life, that is not just the Christian, but ALL religions.
What I do find sad though with religion is that people like you, still in this day and age need it to make their lives complete, and justify sometimes their outdated bigoted views, when especially your faith the texts and scriptures have been twisted, omitted, and added so much it is now just a myth a story no one can verify, it has split several times, why because it has no solid foundation.

I am done debating with you, after you have damned me to hell.

I wish you well in life.

It's going to be worse for you than it is for them in that case. They never heard about Jesus. You have.
Precisely the point I am making, it isn't a level playing field.

Or are you going to post a bit of the bible that discusses these allowances?

its your god's fault. you reckon everything wrong in the world is due to the original sin? thats on your god, he choses to perpetuate this punishment for thousands of years, and scores of generations. free will is a cheap excuse. free will of someone does not mean their harvest comes in, or prevent them getting shelled by someone they never met. the starving child or those killed in war are because your god choses not to intervene.

doesn't sound very fair.

No sorry I stopped reading your Bible quotes a few pages back 🤣. Not really my idea of worthwhile evidence.

Why what does it say? You don't need to accept Jesus if I have placed you somewhere where noone knows about him.

Why wont your all powerful God stop earthquakes and tsunamis killing large numbers? They have nothing to do with free will.

Biblical inerrancy is a form of evangelical fundamentalism. I have no issue with faith but blind adherence to texts from multiple sources that went through multiple translations and interpretations containing various contradictions cannot be read as an absolute factual set of rules.
