As he said himself - if he wanted an easy life, he would have stayed at Brighton.

It's obviously not great that his and his family's mental health is being impacted. BUT it was entirely, 110% predictable that this would happen. He absolutely MUST have known, and surely, surely discussed it in some detail with his family (certainly his wife). He then obviously thought it was worth it for the money. I don't wish ill on him, but I really don't want to hear him moaning on about it. It's rather like someone going out in the rain without a coat and complaining about getting wet!
Yep, that five minutes with Rachael after her Pilates class in between Chelsea getting permission to approach and him leaving training for London must rush to the back of both their minds at regular intervals.

Because they obviously couldn't have discussed it before.......

Funny how he thinks it’s acceptable for Chelsea fans to let their feelings be known, yet he felt Brighton fans needed a history lesson for daring to show theirs! This guy seems to be so inconsistent.
He would probably say he's learned from previous situations...😂

Yes, it is the main reason I have no time for the bloke anymore. He is a lily-livered coward.

In fairness there is a difference between fans used to success booing losing at home to the managerless bottom team and drawing at home having dominated a game. I’ll stick my head above the parapet and suggest the (limited) booing at the Leeds game was a bit wanky

I agree entirely. I would also add that Potter was led down that route in the post match interviews and it was amplified in most match reports. Added to that, he never actually said Brighton fans needs a history lesson after Leeds, he said maybe he does:

“The fans are entitled to their opinions but I disagree with them. You have to understand the game, who we played and what we did. We are sitting eighth in the Premier League but maybe I need a history lesson on this club.

Well yes, and I heard a few boos that game which I didn't agree with at all. But he's got double standards at work whereby Chelsea fans are allowed to express their disappointment and Brighton fans not. I'm afraid that's not how a crowd works, a crowd will do what a crowd will do. It is what it is. 🤣

The history lesson comment was totally aimed at the fans and was snarky. Nothing remotely in it that suggests he was serious or that it was from humility.

My point is, it's repeatedly stated that he said "Brighton fans need a history lesson": he didn't. If you're telling me that it wasn't taken deadly seriously by the Brighton fanbase, I'd suggest reading all 48,359,202 comments on here that appear to be taking him very, very seriously and are mortally wounded by the mere suggestion.

I am concerned on how much energy some fans spend on hating Potter, if we could bottle that energy and use it positively, wouldn't that be great?

I wonder how many anti potter posts have entered this board so far.

Peace fellow Albion fans, love thy neighbour.

Are they double standards or just different ones based on the relevant status of each club?

But yes, the booing was very minor and blown out of all proportion

well you’re free to interpret that as being self effacing if you want, but i think most read it as what he intended and that was a snidely swipe at the fans.

He was suggesting just that. He was saying he knew the history of the club, we shouldn't have such high expectations and that maybe Brighton fans were unaware of our previous lowly status. It's called inference.
