Recent crackdown by the Albion mentioned.
It shouldn't be up to the Albion. It's a disease allowing profiteering shites in sport, music, theatre etc to rip off genuine fans and/or stop them even getting tickets.

Like so much it is over the top. To take Albion the Liverpool cup game must have been only game in Amex history that was a problem. Not really surprising when would think far more match day tickets to sell . Not only Liverpool fans but at £25 a high demand from people that can't normally afford to go.

The club’s actions for that, indicate that it was something they’d been investigating for some time.

After years of being crap in the EPL Arsenal strung some wins together and hey presto their plastics bought tickets all around the Amex for the NYE game. Revealing a secondary market to the club?

Mobile ticketing offers incredible tools to clubs in order to track the life of a ticket," said Walker.

"You can track from its sale right through to the person that presents it for entry at the gate. You can monitor how many tickets an account is transferring every year.

"It gives you an incredible ability to detect touting activity, to detect the unauthorised resale of tickets and to shut off about 90% of the haemorrhage of tickets on to the black market."”

Can someone explain how this works? How can the club trace the ticket all the way to the person at the gate?

There's 125 tickets left for the rearranged Palace game and most of them are singles. This for a game that was only anounced a couple of days ago. Were tickets carried over from the postponed game? Man Utd also nearly sold out which means either happy Japanese tourists next to me or Man Utd fans.

Is it in reverse?

With all digital tickets on phones, a club could see where multiple phones (actual attendees) are using particular seats.

A club can then work backwards to the original season ticket or membership acquiring those tickets.

So the tech just tells the club multiple devices have used an account/season ticket?

All guessing, that may be part of it. I can't be anything more sinister than that, the outcry on data breaches and human rights would be huge .... Cambridge Analytica.

With analysis of that data.

Plus, technology to look for patterns of buying. Looking at Iridium's statements and to Parliament, touts are sweeping up tickets, then selling to the list of intermediaries.

Thanks. Using Brighton as an example, I guess clubs would also need to insist the digital ticket is used, as opposed to the QR code which is on the reverse of the digital ticket.

Unlike Bournemouth and Newcastle, I can't remember the club refunding tickets for the Palace game so I'm guessing the figures will be what they were the week before the game was postponed.

It's got to be the only way to beat this.

I wonder what they'll do about guest tickets with season tickets. Some might be abusing that too.
