What about Spurs? It would also need one of Arsenal or United to win the europa league but not finish in the top 4.Liverpool and Chelsea have as much chance of winning the CL as we do of making the top four, maybe less

It’s not happening.
It came from someone saying it’d be typical Brighton to finish 4th but then get knocked out in qualifying before the group stages. But 4th in the Premier League gets you straight into the Champions League group stages and the only way you could finish 4th and not make the Champions League group stages would be if the CL & EL winners were both English and not in the top 4.
Didn’t Everton get knocked out in the qualifying rounds?
If we win our game in hand we’re above Spurs and only 3 points behind 4th place!

I think Top 4 may be out of reach simply because mental and physical tiredness could affect us in those last 4 or 5 games. Moder's form and fitness could be key.
One thing that I really admire about our team is the mental strength they show. They fight till the very last minute like we saw today. I really doubt they’ll mentally crash when the games start building with more pressure. What gives me hope is the ‘Fergie time’ thing we’ve got going on at the moment. We’re turning draws into wins at long last.
And anyway, this is the same Albion who avoided extinction thanks to a one off season where goal difference was determined only on goals scored.
We’re clearly blessed by the football gods. Champions league here we come!

The Champions don’t. Rangers run to the Europa League final lifted Scotland to 9th (I think) in the coefficient table.

I think top six and Europe is an outside chance. Top 4 is obviously Dream Land stuff
I think the problem that we face is the fixture pile up coming our way.
We have 18 games left and at least 3 to rearrange.
At the moment 2 more are planned for February, only 3 for March (with every possibility of Man U being rearranged)
Which leaves 6 already planned for April, but could easily become 7 or 8 games and 4 for May, which would become 7 or 8, depending upon how we go in the Cup. I think our squad is just too thin to cope with that full on Saturday, Wednesday Saturday schedule over two months.
Welbeck, Lallana are good for one game a week at most

I'm not entirely sure that holds as much weight as the old days.
Sports science, 5 substitutes a young hungry team all given to a batpooh cra-cra perfectionist manager.
The fitness of Dunk Caicedo and Mac Allister are paramount (yes I do know I've left out Mitoma), but even with the W/C the latter 2 have already had their minutes managed (one way or another).

Yesterday was our highest risk league game. Without Mac Allister and Caicedo just back in the squad, Ferguson recovering from injury; we were are vulnerable as we could be.
Yet we still won.
I'm not saying we are nailed on for the Top 4, because we clearly are outsiders, but we will soon have Colwill, Lallana and Moder available after injury. We've added Buonanotte and Ayari to the squad too, plus Roberto has been able to give lots of his squad game time to ensure they're up to speed and ready if the need arises.

Don't get me wrong, I know we have a very good young hungry squad, but the pessimist in me suggests we will struggle to maintain this standard for the rest of the season consistently, especially playing 2 games a week for two months.
And don't forget we are heading into the period of the season where we are traditionally pants. In 2022 we won our first PL game in February, then waited until April to win our next one. The year before we had one win at the start of Feb, then waited until 14th March to win the next one. In 2020 the first win of the calendar year was 20th June, having failed to win 4 games in Feb and one in March.
In the other hand, the dreamer in me is looking forward to beating Villa at the end of May to secure European football for the first time.
