He'll start for Chelsea next year.
I largely agree with that. However, what makes me think otherwise – regardless of manager – is the way that Chelsea were apparently prepared to offload Gallagher, who was seen as integral to the squad a few months ago.

Also, because Chelsea Todd has an interesting approach to transfer business, Colwill – who isn't a big name or been signed for an astronomical fee – might become surplus to requirements. But maybe that's all wishful thinking. Either way I reckon Potter will still be there next season, with a squad that competes on all fronts. He didn't become a bad manager overnight and, given it took him a bit of time here to get it right, I think he's in it for the long-term (or at least the medium-term!).

Colwill will, if he has any sense, stay here should he be given the opportunity. Given the way Chelsea approach transfer windows if I were a player in that team, I would never have any confidence in being an integral part of that team, or being able to keep my place even if I played well. They have too many players that need to be kept happy and its not hard to see that if the next big name player is in his position, Boehly will buy them whether they actually need or want them.

Wonder what he thinks when he reads stuff like this (or anyone in the academy for that matter)?

They'll struggle to go as big for the next two years because of FFP surely. The loophole of spreading contracts over 7 or 8 years is being closed in the summer. After the horse has bolted and scuppering any other clubs from benefiting in the same way. That's got to be an issue for them though.

You might be right but this is all new to Potter.

Agreed that he hasn’t become a bad manager overnight and he did and was doing a fantastic job at the Albion. However, he’s now fishing in a different pond with expensive big named players on massive money, an impatient somewhat entitled and worldwide fan base, new owners wishing to make their mark, American owners who believe high spend equals success,…… I could go on.

At the Albion he had a successful track record, players who he had developed and played for him, an understanding and broadly local fan base, a settled family life with home 15 minutes from Amex/ training ground and to cap it all Tony Bloom.

Ok he’s earning £millions more!

Potter likes to work with a small squad, he was allways happy to see players loaned out if he thought their was little chance of them getting any meaningful playing time,, don't think it's going to work for him at chelsea with a constant line of superstar players knocking on his door asking why their not playing,, believe he's on a promise of 9 months given to see at least the beginnings of success, and the clock is ticking,

I am going to Stamford Bridge tomorrow and nailing up my Free Levi Colwill placard on the fencing. Colwill was made by De Zerbi.

That is how it works isn’t it?

Potter was reluctant to play him at Lil Ole Brighton what hope has he got of making the first team at Chelsea!,

Looking at Chelsea's squad, they have got a ridiculous amount of quality defenders in the centre back department.

Forfana
Koulibaly
Chalobah
Silva
Badiashile

If they don't qualify for Europe next season, What chance young Levi takes a look and thinks, I'd be better off at Brighton?
Colwill is comfortably better than 2 of them for sure, one of them is untested, another has been injury prone and another is 87.

And who they bring in during the summer window. They still have a strong interest in Gvadiol.
This is it. As things stands Colwill has a chance of decent game time at Chelsea. But i'm not seeing Chelsea slow down the spending and there's a good chance further centre backs will be bought in. I don't think they'll let FFP stop them, they'll just find loopholes.

In any case if he wants to sign with us he should be letting the club know about that early as I think we'll prioritise buying him if at all possible, but if he's buggering about we'll look elsewhere.

More likely he'll sign a new deal with Chelsea and they'll look to loan him out for another year, maybe to us, maybe somewhere else.

Nothing more on his injury

Call me paranoid but I do find the timing of this muscle strain slightly suspicious just after Chelsea made a song and dance about him when he went back to the bridge and he had a sit down with the enemy, potter.

I suspect they can't recall him.

And I suspect I'm being highly paranoid

Didn't RDZ say Colwill will be assessed ahead of the Palace game? So it sounds like there is a slight possibility he may be available for that.
