I wonder what impact letting Caicedo go in this window would have on De Zerbi?
I wonder what impact not getting in that guy from Shakhtar would have (or both combined).

After talking to MC "Like a father" Caicedo chooses to leave.
That's got to sting a bit.
Not all fathers are good. Maybe De Zerbi patterned his fatherly talk on the wrong type of father...

Back to the thread... Bit of time has passed and we're seeing him settle in a bit. I'm not sure much has changed on the tactical side of things, but I do like that he is showing hunger and showing passion, like he is invested in our results. Graham's matter of fact approach to interviews were what they were, it's not like he was ever wrong in what he said (you can't win every game, etc), but as fans it helps connect with the manager if you sense a kinship with him because the losses hurt him the way they hurt you, the desire to see better performance matches your desire for more, and o on.

In fairness, when I give my son some fatherly advice, he quite often ends up posting on Social Media that he wants to leave NOW!

Delighted that Roberto was appointed and football more watchable, even if the defence is much more leaky

Main concern is that he is too open in press conferences about potential transfers. His remarks about Trossard and Caciedo arguably reduced the club’s bargaining position. Better he is advised to say no comment.

If Caicedo goes in this window and RDZ doesn’t get his ex player, I imagine he might start questioning if this is the right club for him, maybe.

Our last manager f***ed off when everything appeared to be in place for a great season, somewhat different to how we’d be if Caicedo goes, Mwepu is no longer playing, Trossard forcing his his way out and RDZ’s wanted player doesn’t arrive.

Roll on Tuesday night with Caicedo still here and Matviyenko has held up the Albion shirt on a five year contract

I f***ing love the bloke. This is the way.

However i think he'll be gone in the summer if he's not backed
Disagree. He produced a comprehensive analysis of every single player for his interview with Bloom and Barber. He is utterly obsessed. He will have studied and completely understood Tony’s way of operating and is unlikely to be unsettled by a few transfer window shenanigans mostly driven by shyster agents looking to make a quick buck. Tony will have explained the recruitment model in immense detail during his recruitment process and Roberto has bought into it.

Hmm, hope you’re right but good managers are driven by the players at their disposal imo, rather than projects for the future, the current one is stumbling a little.

….and you think DeZ came into this not knowing how we operate in the scouting/recruitment/transfer market ?
I really doubt he had any clue about how many players we’d lose in such a short space of time and neither did TB I imagine. RDZ needs backing, that hasn’t happened yet

Tony had no clue about that either so how would he ? Don’t confuse long term strategy with shot term irritations

Tony telling Arsenal to fvck off is quite some backing

Yet as fans we want to know what is happening in the club, we are all big boys and don’t expect everything to be rosy all the time.

Worrying interview after the game. Told chairman we need players and he’s waiting basically.
I'm not surprised. He should be given the funds he needs. It's not as if we don't have the money. Reinvestment is not necessarily a dirty word.

RDZ needs to ask one or two of them to sandbag their performances a bit. Just to stay under the radar. Last thing we need is Mitoma scoring worldies and skinning apparently world class fullbacks leaving them looking like they have PTSD.
