The ball is 100% in Anthony Bloom’s hands.

There’s nothing that Edu, Arteta, Caicedo, his agent, can tangibly do now to alter events.
Sorry, I thought more would be at the 'acceptance' stage.

Night night!

Burnley made Europe, why not us?
I'm not saying we won't, we certainly have a chance but I think the odds are stacked against us with or without Moises.

I fear that many fans are setting themselves up for huge disappointment. Another top 10 finish would be an incredible achievement given all the upheaval over the last few months and our budget but the gulf between 10th and 5th/6th is usually quite big.

The European dream is exactly that, a dream! Even with Caicedo in our team we're probably more likely to finish 12th than in the top 6 regardless of what the bookies or super computers say right now.

Some sanity here...

Things were looking good for Brighton & Hove Albion just a week ago.

It's easy to put a list together of everyone who's left.... yeah, boo hoo hoo.

But we're happy with the Potter/RDZ swap, and Cucurella/Pervis, not that fussed about Trossard, etc etc.

Caicedo WILL BE a massive 'loss'. It feels like a massive kick in teeth, as we've had less than a season out of him.

But here's the rub: he was ALWAYS too good for us (or any non-top six team).

He was star in his national team, called the ‘Ecuadorian Kante’, aged just 18.

Man United, Liverpool and AC Milan were after him FFS. They only backed out because of the legals, permits etc.

The club worked hard to get him to England, and will get rewarded with £50m+. That's not a loss!

Caicedo's exit is not a flaw in Albion's system. It's not the end of the dream. In this case, we just aimed a little too high imo.

(Also, the mid-season World Cup has clearly destablised players/the market this winter)
But if he goes now he’s leaving us in the shit with very little time to get a replacement in. Seriously pissed off right now about how this is playing out

…..best tell Fulham and Brentford fans to give up now then……i see it as an unusual season….NEWcastle in the top four …then u have Liverpool and Chelsea mid table….this is our chance

Caicedo cannot be allowed to leave in this window. Lines in the sand cannot be crossed. If the club says Not For Sale - they have to stick with that decision.
Someone might pay meet valuation though.

I doubt it will be Arsenal as they are too tight. Chelsea surely can’t do another near £100m spoodge due to FFP. But Manure, Liverpool, Newcastle or Citeh may make the move. We won’t turn down £100m.

Well, that's some shitty news.

I still don't think we'll sell him though, it would send a terrible message to sell a player right at the end of the window who's played less than a season for under his value just because he's handed in a transfer request.

It tells the whole squad that they can play well for a few months hand in a transfer request and then ponce off at the drop of a hat. No continuity on the pitch and an easy way to demotivate RDZ.

Caicedo's value will not drop between now and the summer even if he doesn't play another game for the club.

It's a really disappointing development, a very poor decision by Caicedo/his team. All he had to do was get his head down for another 19 games and then move in the summer with our blessing to his pick of clubs. Instead he's created a bit of chaos, bad feeling, disruption for nothing.

Like i said earlier tell bloody Edu to stay away or he will lose out in the end . I think (like others) it`s the new fuckin agent , but Caicedo has to take responsibility too . I do hope Tony slaps a £80m minimum on him now , and if he moans don`t give in to him , send him off to train in a small corner on his own or this WILL become a regular thing with SOFT LITTLE BRIGHTON .

I just read 80 or so twitter posts and various media posts , apart from arse and chelsea fans the vast majority are with us , and hope we don`t give in to them or the player and his agent .

This corrupt sport needs anti-tampering laws brought in ASAP.

NO clubs employees should be able to be approached without the permission of the club.

To have other clubs and agents making deals with other clubs behind a clubs back needs to be made illegal to protect the integrity of the sport(not that it has much of that).

Of course, if the club has a valuation AND (once again) it’s right for the club - then he can leave. However, if Not For Sale is attributable to the Club’s Executive because this transaction is detrimental to the business then they have to follow through with that statement.

I thought laws like that already existed ? . You know , have to ask the parent club for permission to approach a player ?

This all by itself is an affront to the natural order of things, and cannot be allowed to stand.
It's our job, as one of the minnows, to shore them up.

We should’ve made an example of Trossard. That was our biggest mistake! Instead Trossard has set an alarming precedent. Now we may have to make an example of MC and we really didn’t wanna do that. (Or accept this continuing to happen over and over again now. It’ll be EF or CM next.) It’s no good for anyone involved.

We MUST get at least one season out a player for our efforts FFS. The supporters deserve that much!

We were prepared to put in the grind that other clubs weren’t to enable an incredible future for the lad, (mutually beneficial, yes.) I think he owes us a lot more than he thinks he does! That is a debt he has yet to pay IMO.

This is VERY disappointing!

I don’t think it’s too much to ask for these players to appreciate that, in the middle of potentially the best campaign in Brighton’s history, the club will not want to break up the team. it amazes me when fans of other clubs gloat about this stuff. It’s obvious it can’t be good for football when a team with a sensible financial approach that’s reached 6th in the table no longer has any chance of prospering.

What does the club do from this? I really dont know. We keep the same stance and we could have a sulky player for the rest of the season. Or try to striker a deal now but Arsenal/Chelsea probably wont go higher than £60/65m as they know our position is weakened.
Considering we only need half that to turn a massively healthy profit, we could theoretically hold him to his contract for another season and make this the worst agent f***-up of all time. Vanishingly likely to happen of course.
