I think the most worrying thing is the fallout with the manager because if it can happen with Tross it can happen with anyone. Our firey Italian may for one reason or another not have the man management skills that Potter had.

But we lost White, Bissouma and Cucurella with Potter in charge. Not like players were clambering to stick around because of him.

Behave! I want a manager you expects 100% and isn’t phased by dickheads.

None of them fell out with Potter or seemingly publicly criticised him though. They all got sold for huge amounts comparably

RDZ isn't able to rectify the contract situation. Trossard, like Maupay, didn’t want to sign a new deal. We triggered his contract extension to preserve his value, he made it clear he wants to leave with dreadful performances on the pitch and in training. DeZerbi dropped him after his training ground antics.

Don’t see what else anyone could’ve done.

I’m not arguing that, just saying that the reason the 3 quoted left were because we got huge offers and they went to bigger clubs playing European football

Well it seems it was him having an altercation with a team mate and his attitude that lead to the criticism.

None of the other players seem that bothered by him not having been in the team as their play has been outstanding without him.

“Mikel, it’s Roberto here, can you get your team to whack a moody bid in for the Belgian waffle, say 20 big ones, then we’ll sit back and wait for those Chelsea mugs to offer 40”
I don’t doubt calls were made to Chelsea even while negotiations were ongoing. “You don’t want to miss out to a rival do you, Todd? What would your fans say?”

Disagree here, RdeZ is far from a 'fiery Italian' IMHO. Always comes across as a measured assessor sort of a bloke, albeit with demonstrable passion for what he does and is trying to do. Also the fact that Trossard allegedly told Lallana and Dunk to F off when they tried to reason with him, shows a more together attitude from all the other players. Trossard is out on his own here and deserves to be got rid of. No one bigger than the club and all that.

True but I'm sure the bids are known by the big journos
But it's being reported that Arsenal haven't even approached Brighton yet.

Not really - quite a few pretty reliable journos saying negotiations between clubs been going on last 24 hours or so

Would be very happy to let him got for £20m+

No one wants a player that doesn't want to play for us and if we agree a deal at £26m i think that's good business for us and they get a decent squad player. Winners all round.
When I think Maupay £10m and Chris bloody Wood at £25m, then £20m is a bargain regardless. £40m is a more appropriate valuation but I guess we lose c£15m for 'spat' effect

Nonsense. Potter fell out with Ryan and Maupay and Cucurella handed in a transfer request.

My overall feeling on this is surprise at how little we've missed him. Would have been third or fourth name on my teamsheet at the start of the season. But with Mitoma, Sarmiento and now Buonanotte as succession plans I think we can cash in on a want-away 28 year old. I won't give him much grief on his return, he certainly gave us a bit more in terms of service than Marc "one season" Cucurella. Just a shame he seemed to hibernate in mid-winter.

Every where I've seen and heard they have just started. Even so Brighton would not be showing their hand to anyone. It's not what we do.

I've no issue with him leaving – as I've said before, players and managers come and go and the model at the club certainly seems to be to maximise profits on players such as Trossard.

Also, there's clearly two sides to the story – or at least a clash of personalities. I'm not saying that either party did anything wrong (although going public was a bit of a gamble/silly move IMO), but I bet RDZ can be a nightmare for some players, which possibly hastened Trossard's departure.

Anyway, good luck to him and thanks for all the goals!
