Following yesterdays Final, think it's time the Footballing authorities should take a look at the actions of goalkeepers with their sh*thousery.

Thought Martinez was totally out of order walking up to a 19 kid, picking up the ball and chucking it away. Imagine the nerves walking up there, let alone taking a penalty in a WC final with the World watching........totally un professional and un sportsman like.

Book the keeper if he leaves his 6 yard box........simples !!

I think he did get booked the second time he tried to do it? (though not the first). Yes, completely out of order, but we know all about Martinez and his dark arts.

I agree that they shouldn’t do this but what happens if he’s already been booked? Send him off and allow a sub keeper? But what if all subs have already been used? Etc etc. it would become a farce and put the penalty taken under even more pressure by having an even longer wait.

Things got out of hand generally yday, for example during ET the Argentina subs were by the corner flag kicking the ball away to waste time. Retrospective action might help but I’m not sure.

Sadly winning the WC seems to justify the use of dark arts.

Well he may not have had the chance to delay a penalty being taken, but he did get up to some tricks at the Amex before the break, certainly did his share of timewasting once Villa had gone 2-1 ahead.

Even got booked for it if l remember correctly.

Thought the whole Dutch team were bad in the earlier round (and i remember that dick Krul's antics years back) but Martinez showed himself to be just as bad (and showed himself up again when receiving his award). I'm not sure I'm in the win-at-all-costs camp I prefer glory and dignity. Martinez may be a WC winner but he will always be an embarassing knob. Sad that the "pundits" just laugh about it and never call it out, same during the game all the loud shouts of agony and rolling around - why can't the pundits call it out? It seems worse now than ever. I liked Maupay and what he did winding up opponents and fans (same as El Abd used to) but that's different imho. The ref should control the penalty taking more but they seem too chicken...

Not a fan of the shithousery but also struggle to be angry about it... the odds are stacked against the goalies as it is, with silly rules like "one foot on the goal line".

I think that might be blue and white tinted specs talking - it's exactly the same, trying to wind up an opposition player to the point they make a mistake and you gain an advantage over them.

It happens in nearly every sport in various ways, it's all part of the psychological side of the game. I have no problem with it, I think it adds to the enjoyment and players should learn to deal with it.

The antics of Cullip and El Abd were embarrassing at times

If he's already booked then if he carries on and get's sent off for a second yellow then that's his problem. One of the players then has to take over as you can't do subs during the penalty shootout. That disadvantages his team and that's the deterrent. If he was sent off, one of the opposition would then drop out of the penalty shootout so the teams have the same number.

He’s a shithead by nature. This is the keeper who injured himself making a routine save when Villa were one up, the ref bought it hook line and sinker too. Refs need to be stronger, although I thought yesterdays had an excellent game overall

I disagree.
If he had already been booked, he should be aware and so more careful.

Ref would only have to do it once! The message would get across.

It was like when Martinez was wasting time against us. He did it several times before he was booked and carried on even more as it seems well I can't be punished again.
I would love to see a ref brave enough to give a 2nd yellow.

We have seen players get a 2nd yellow for kicking the ball away (Mooy?) so it happens very occasionally.

The gesture he made with his Golden Glove trophy was embarrassing as well.

Once they start enforcing a continuous run-up rather than allowing a stutter step, then yes. Until then not for me.

Yellow cards issued during the match are not carried over to a penalty shoot out. So that wouldn’t stop goalkeeper shithousery.
