Have PGMOL issued an official statement about the VAR decision not to award the penalty? Would love to hear what BS they come up with.

I’d imagine the club will get something back from them.

" To keep the integrity of the Premier League in tact, we ensure that the ineptitude of all our officials including those positioned in our offices are maintained to highest level of incompetence. We will endeavour to rectify any correct decisions for clubs like Brighton. This is to allow the use of all time needed by the opposition by means of time management as deemed necessary to secure the correct result."

They won't admit to anything. Dermot Gallagher will shortly be on Ref Watch on SSN explaining why the referee aand VAR got it exactly right - as is every decision, according to Gallagher. I've yet to hear him ever come out and say, 'Yes, tha was a shocker'.

He was adamant on ref watch today that it was a blatant penalty. It’s the most clear I have ever heard him be over a decision being wrong. Both pundits agreed 100% and seem genuinely confused about it. Sky and MOTD2 also all unanimous.

I know we could have missed the penalty but it’s so obvious it’s almost as black and white as a ball crossing the line. Almost certainly cost us at least a point and it’s literally unbelievable that someone can watch that and not deem it a penalty.

The club should ask for answers.

They should certainly be seeking an official statement over why it wasn't given. What explanation can there be?

Which, funnily enough, Aston Villa also benefited from when the Sheffield United ghost-goal wasn't given:

It's a farce.

The tech is shit and the people using the shit tech are f***ing useless.

Warnock said that this is an odd one because normally it is subjective and there could be a debate but this time there is simply not a debate. It is just a pen. Not a single pundit has said otherwise.

But then what?
Whoops, sorry. Maybe the ref gets shelved for a game or two, and then we all move on...
But maybe then next time there is a 50/50 involving March or us they may look more leniently on the decision. This isn’t sour grapes it’s an absolute wrong that we have been subjected to. Politely asking for an explanation and planting the seed can’t do any harm.

Mark Halsey, a Premier League referee between 1999-2013, has had his say on both incidents.

"There were two big incidents in the game. In my opinion, the Aston Villa penalty was a clear one. [Lewis] Dunk did not need to make that challenge as the Villa player [McGinn] was never going to get to the ball after that heavy touch. Once you go to ground in those situations you run the risk so I don't think Brighton can have any complaints about the penalty that went against them," he told Sussex Live.

"However, they can have a complaint with the one they didn't get. Solly March was clearly caught by Lucas Digne. Solly got to the ball first and the full-back has come through him and caught him, which, in my view, was a clear penalty.

"It's difficult for Chris Kavanagh as his view was impeded by a Villa player, so perhaps he didn't see the incident in its entirety and that is where VAR should get involved. I was very surprised that Jarred Gillett never got involved in that incident. It was a clear and obvious error and he should have recommended a review and that is what is infuriating everyone in football, including fans, because they are just as important as anyone else."

Halsey hopes that the standard of refereeing will improve when former official Howard Webb returns to the Premier League as chief refereeing officer in December when he takes over from Mike Riley.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Except I don't think that the challenge on March was a penalty.

:devilish:
