Veltman has quite often had the same role over the years, though a bit more cautious. Takes a really intelligent player to do that double-role.

Interesting that a Goalkeeper finds what he wants unique, I would have thought there would not be a huge difference in what was required from playing out, possession type mangers, from their keeper.

There's loads of different kinds of possession style keepers though.
For example Ederson looks to launch attacks with long balls often compared to some who just play it into the CBs.
Warren Aspinall was just asked why we’re so free scoring under RDZ.
He said because we move the ball so much quicker in attack, opponents haven’t the time to get set up (as they often had previously). Attack, attack, attack.

RDZ has done a remarkable job in a short space of time, with limited English as well. Hands up, after the Spurs and Forest games I was concerned he wasn't on the ball tactically. I was wrong.
Was Potter underachieving this entire time? Was it the squad that was carrying Potter all along?

Come on, you can't deny he did a brilliant job getting us into the top half last season. He transformed our playing style. I'm not getting carried away just yet, albeit it's been a fantastic week and a half and it seems like RDZ has the potential to take us even further. Long may the goals continue!!

No. Potter provided stability. He also improved almost every player he had here. But I think many of us always felt he made life harder for himself than it needed to be- IE taking two seasons to work out a formation and his best players and seemingly being disinterested in speculative attacking and attacking at pace until his last few games. RDZ has come in and said 'right guys. You know what you're doing. Now just do it quicker. And have a bloody pop at goal from time to time'. It's less pragmatic. It's not rocket science.

On the last day of the season, we could have finished 13th if results had conspired against us, fine margins, as he was fond of saying.
I am getting carried away with De Zerbi, from the commentary it sounded like one of our poorest performances so far under him, and we scored 3 to beat Arsenal at the Emirates.
Odds on RDZ as the next Chelsea manager?
