Didn’t Trossard state only a few weeks ago that he wouldn’t sign for a ‘big club’ if it meant being mainly on the bench?

I think he’ll go in the summer but I’ve just got a little feeling that it won’t be to Chelsea.
He did.

Maybe just maybe he also thinks Newcastle are a bunch of murderous sportwashers with disgusting human rights and has no interest in going there whatever wage they offer him. Just a thought

Plus he – or someone within the club – has probably identified Trossard's replacement or, if promoting from within, his replacement's replacement...
It’s going to be very difficult/almost impossible to replace Trossard with a player inside or outside the club in the short term unless we pay big, big money on a transfer. Trossard is a big time player now, 5 goals against Citeh, Liverpool and Chelsea says it all.

We’d need someone like Mudryk to come in and we’re never going to pay his transfer fee in a millions years (£50m+). It makes a January exit look unlikely for our sleepless Belgium gem even if we get several £40m+ offers. But at some point, we are going to need some goal scorers. Players like March, Welbeck and Lallana might be brilliant in other areas of the game but they are going to get us about half a dozen goals this season combined. If Tross goes, who scores?

Dunno, but I wondered who would play at Left Back when Cucurella moved, how we would cope defensively without Bissouma, and who our Manager/Coach would be when Potter bugged out. All these questions were met with very satisfactory answers in the end, so I am giving up fretting over departures until we stop replacing them with upgrades.

Dunno - I just cut and pasted links from earlier pages on NSC 😂

Seems to me though the journalist quoted in the article I linked above and was linked up thread has solid credentials as a Sports writer - no? Sacha Tavolieri is a well known belgium sports journalist)

Yes -agreed but his reporting is just they’ve “ramped up” interest. Hard to tell what they means. What do you think it means?

I am not privvy to any more info than you (ie what ever is public) but Chelsea were sniffing around Tross in the Summer - I hazard a guess that Tavolieri was suggesting Trossard’s good showing against Chelsea last Saturday would speed up their interest to making a possible move in January (ie sooner than later) - but that’s just a guess!

While it would be nice if he was some kind of hardcore humanitarian communist, the odds are not great.
