Therein lies the issue. City were like an upmarket version of us last season. Controlled games but didn't score enough and had a much better record being in front than being behind. Now they can win from anywhere having added the best striker for a generation. Only team that can stop them winning the Champions league is themselves.

I can only compare him to Ronaldo (the Brazilian one) who was destroyed by injuries. Both are/were essentially perfect strikers

I’m not sure if excited was the word but I was intrigued at the prospect of seeing a few players in opposition over the years. The ones that stick in the mind were John Wark, Trevor Francis, Eric Gates and Ian Rush. They all turned out to be pretty good in their own way.

As for your first question, he is known as RoboStriker in our house, almost a different species to other footballers. Amazing player, just too good.

Since our rise to the PL, I've treated a visit to any Albion game like I did when we were in div 3. I've always gone to watch us no matter who we were playing and couldn't really care less who is in the oppositions side whether it be Christiano Ronaldo or Grant Hanley.

That said, I've never looked forward to seeing a player in the flesh more than Haaland - he appears to be a freak visually and statistically - and I've never looked forward more to seeing how Dunk, Veltman and Webster try and keep him quiet even though it is 3 games away.

1. Is it just me? I appreciate Haaland at City is bad for the game and all that but still. I've never seen anything like it
2. Has anyone ever gone to the Amex or an away game and been genuinely excited about seeing an opposition player?

I have similarly thinking about Haarland and our back line.

The difference is that I have never been more worried for them.

Yep. Back in 2018, when he was at his peak, Eden Hazard.

He scored 2 in Chelsea's 0-4 win. IMO the best performance of any player at the Amex.

Three or four years ago he was valued at (and I think sold for) 20M Euros. Would have been a great signing for us - but we were too busy chasing Calleri, Jahanbakhsh and Darwin Nunez. C'est la vie!

Me and my lad were just having this conversation. Bissouma for instance was one of the best - if not the best - I've seen for us accepting that Moises is better than he was at relative ages. He couldn't shoot for shit though and you could pick more.

What does Haaland do badly? Definitely not shooting. Movement is as good as anyone I've ever seen. Probably doesn't pass enough but probably has the best manager in the world to teach him. Struggling to pick one.

I was actually really excited about seeing Ronaldo play in the flesh last season - had to admit didn’t expect him to hardly touch the ball - so I’ve still yet to see him ‘play’ live
