There was something on the radio this morning talking about the queue and, as you would expect from the British, we know how to organise a queue.

Amazing logistical effort with the wristbands, queue management, provision of toilets, a film to watch part way around, Samaritans for those who need support and a bag drop when you get nearby.

My wife’s aunt has gone there today.
She could talk for England, and anyone queuing near her for 14 hours is going to need therapy when they get out.

My eldest lad went up on Wednesday night with his G/F as she is a big Royal Family fan, & he had yesterday off work. They caught the 11pm train and started queuing at about 12.30am. Eventually got through to the coffin mid-morning sometime.
I told them they were utterly bonkers.

A friend of mine has been non-stop on social media with the tributes to ER2 for the last week, & posted a photo this morning on board a train with a big bunch of flowers...and then one of her standing in London saying "only another 11hrs to go". She is the manager of a high street store, & has taken a day off specially to do this. What is wrong with people?!?!

I guess they think that using up one day of their life (maybe over 25,000 of those to use up) to do a once in a lifetime thing of national relevance that they can look back on is important to them?

I went to see the 'King' who had abdicated his crown, laying in state at Windsor Castle in 1972 as I was staying with an aunt & uncle on holiday in London at the time. I also went to see the flowers left to Diana when I was working at an exhibition at Earls Court and I caught a tube at lunchtime to Kensington Palace. The flowers seemed to go on for 100s and 100s of yards in all directions. That was mindblowing. Two out of three isn't bad.

I travel for hours every other weekend just to watch a bunch of men chase a ball for 90 minutes, merrily sipping poisonous drinks as part of the experience. Best not to overthink any human behaviour...

I'm no conspiracy theorist but I'd be more surprised if she was in it. For security as much as anything else.

.

I cannot think of a more secure coffin anywhere. There are police in Westminster Hall, military everywhere, including the four corners of the catafalque.

Paying respect isn’t just British phenomena, but other countries don’t seem to do it as much nowadays. Russia certainly does, but other states people don’t seem to be as honoured as much now, although Canada, Singapore and North Korea have done. Just 12 presidents in the USA and Rosa Parks have been honoured this way.

Sadly I have quite a serious back issue which means I can barely stand for 90 mins at away games let alone 5 hours plus.

Otherwise, I would have definitely queued.

Was very impressed that David Beckham just queued with everyone else and waited his turn to pay his respects.

Unlike MPs who are sooooooo important.

Always worth remembering when you think the behaviour of others is weird.

I heard there is a shorter wait for people who would struggle to stand ie two hours. I can’t guarantee it though.
