Villarreal seemingly had to let players go before they brought in new ones.

Well, they’ve started their recruitment process:

“Lo Celso joins Villarreal on loan
Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has joined La Liga side Villarreal on a season-long loan, the club have confirmed.
Lo Celso also spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Estadio de la Ceramica, having struggled for game time under Antonio Conte.” SSN

They must be confident that both the Perv and Boulaye transfers are nailed on.

So basically the guy rejected us in 2020 and joined Watford and rejected us a few days ago , but now he has been told he needs to go to balance the books - so a grumpy player from day 1

Maybe had a talk with Caicedo and found out it ain't so bad.

I would like a more English based legit link if you will(Or did I miss one?),but it does seem very promising that he will come here through the other ones I have seen and I think he could fit in nicely.

The Periódico Mediterraneo source is legit, albeit in Spanish. It's the main local paper (well, one of them) for Castellón, where Villareal are based.

I guess this depends on what you want from being a fan.

You telling me you wouldn't want us to sign a player who went on to be player of the season and demonstrate that he's good enough to play for the best clubs in the world?

What exactly wouldn't you like? The world record fee? The highest ever top flight finish? The global acclaim?

We could, of course, aim lower and sign players who are pretty good but none of the best teams in the Champions League want.

Suppose Pervis does join us for the mooted £15 million, and it turns out that he actually IS better than Cucurella.

That would mean that Tony Bloom has just improved his LB/LWB position, and has trousered the thick end of £50 million in the process.

Is this why he is a multi-billionaire? He should bottle that. He'd make a fortune.

Good piece in the Guardian yesterday about Barcelona signing players but not being able to register them because of La Liga financial rules - https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/aug/12/barcelona-race-against-time-amid-desperate-grasp-at-short-term-levers. Maybe the Villareal also need to balance the books.

"Based on income and outgoings, a limite salarial is set by the league that defines what a club can spend on its playing staff, across transfers, salaries and amortisations and, if it does not comply, it simply cannot register on the system."

That’s the spirit.

A very suitable recipient of the GP man management course. Doesn't always work - Maupay, Andone to quote 2 - but on balance worth a try.

"Villarreal continues with its exit operation: Estupiñán, sold to Brighton".

€18 million + €5 million add-ons.

As far as I can tell the deal "seems" done.

:albion2:

Apparently we've doubled his Villarreal wages.

It really baffles me sometimes that people do not grasp the greatness and personalities that we have in TB and Potter. If they want this dude, than that is good enough for me.

Because we won't be overpaying like forest would.

Also we have a strict wage cap. Forest pay stupid wages.

Forest seem to be emulating Huddersfield. They have signed another three players in the last couple of days and are after Maupay too, how many people do they have negotiating these transfers?!

Perhaps the player has considered moving here for ‘footballing’ reasons? I know it’s a shocking theory, but playing under Potter alongside his international teammates Sarmiento and Caicedo is going to do his development no harm at all.

They might do OK. Not spectacular, but OK.

I'm not convinced by some of their signings though.

Anyhow the HollowWay Scattergun worked for palace, so you never know.
