I'm genuinely a bit disappointed to see him as a transfer target. He was a big part of Potters revolution and helped change our style and focus. If we were to sign a replacement it would soften the blow but currently I'd be happy for him to sign an extension and stay a few more years

Brighton factually.....

I think Neil wants to be a main striker and not play second fiddle to anyone else, he has shown signs of frustration last season when not picked at the start or put on from the bench. Probably he has run his course here and makes sense to cash in, I think it is probably what he wants as well, 1st team football, he thrives on playing, and so he should, good luck to him.

I felt last season that we needed another option alongside Welbeck & Maupay to add some variety. Undav's stats are impressive but I'm not sure Zeqiri or Andone give us anything different.

If we do cash in on Maupay then I hope we can find that elusive no.9 who can compliment Undav and stretch defenders by running in behind

The club and Neal will have talked about how he feels about signing a new contract.

If the choice is between him leaving for free next year and £15m we should take the money. That would apply to any player in that situation.

And in the future we need to make sure we get that 5th year (or option for) on that contract when we buy someone

Unless he signs a contract extension or we have an option it is looking like £15million+ now, £8million+ in January, or £0 next summer.

There must be a reasonable chance he is off in the next 5 weeks.

The other factor is does him staying gain us any places up the table. If we were to finish another 5 places higher by keeping him than it may be worth allowing him to run his contract down

For us to finish another five places up the table this season would take a minor miracle, not just the retention of Neal Maupay!

if thats the case he really needs to hit the back of the net on a far more regular basis.......

Neal has his undoubted qualities, but I don't think his presence at the club will gain us 5 places.

If he goes, I'd like to see us try to bring Ben Bereton Diaz in, as West Ham have just spunked £30m on another forward so think it's less likely he'll go to them.

I know Bournemouth are reportedly interested but hopefully with the Maupay money (if he goes) we could have a decent chance of getting him.

I was more suggesting that loosing him may drop us 5 places and mean we could be drawn into a relegation battle. Keeping him and avoiding such a season is worth more than the £15m being offered

Why?

Do you watch Blackburn regularly?
How many full games did you see last season?

And more importantly - why is no one else in for him after so much hype ?

Blackburn fans' expectations about how much they'd get for him seem be much more - shall we say realistic? - than they were early in the season. Not sure we were ever really in for him anyway. In any case, I would want to wait and see how he does this season. If he repeats what he did early last season, yes, his price would rise again - but is it worth a punt in the hope that he can actually do that? IMHO, I don't think so.

Er, yes I do.

My son is at University nearby and watched 7 of their home games last season, which is why I was impressed with Khadra and Van Hecke's contributions too. Also saw 6 of their other matches live on Sky too.

So as per my initial question:-

Why?

What would he bring to t'Albion?

He's quick, a reasonable height (which we don't have much of), a good instinct for goal, and he's a good age and proven at Championship level.
In my view I think he would be a good addition as we're never going to be able to afford a top Prem striker, I think he would be a good potential addition and have reasonable sell on value at his age.

Reading many of your comments is does make me wonder how old you are, or is it just the time for the school holidays?
