Steve Wright was rubbish back in the late 1980's when on Radio 1, not too amazing he has moved being rubbish to his show on Radio 2.

Best of luck with Hospital Radio Steve. :bigwave:

On the other hand yet another vote for Ken Bruce, will be very sad when he goes (reminds himself to print off this weeks Pop Master Scorecard)

"Anything from 3 to 30 Ken, I'll be happy with double figures" :lolol:

Entirely agree. Mind you, we've all been mystified in our household how somebody who probably peaked in the 80s has continued to have a prime Radio 2 spot for so long. Age has nothing to do with it. So a cheery farewell from our household

As has been said, Ken Bruce is still going strong at 71 and long may he continue.

Agree, he was past his best and out of time when he joined Radio2. I hate Radio 2 but he is the worst of the eorst

I still fail to understand why radio DJs are important. Announce the track, give a sentence or two of relevant information, and otherwise shut up.

Blimey, I don't think radio is for you. Maybe buy a smart speaker, if you haven't already.

Steve Wright is awful. I don’t listen to radio 2 except for Popmaster when I remember to tune in. Can’t stand Ken Bruce apart from PM as he doesn’t witter on, just asks the questions. The contestants who do endless hello’s to people who are sitting in the next room get me too annoyed though.

For music it’s KEXP Seattle (after 1pm) and BBC Radio 6, except for Lauren Laverne who talks far too much and seems very insincere to me. I enjoy Marconie and Radcliffe, except when they eat crisps on air which makes me want to punch something.

And it’s BBC Radio 4 for everything else. Quizzes, some comedy, reliable news, debate, history, art, science and all that lovely stuff.

Who is Radio 2 for? Hysterical women on their way to Hen do’s, angry trades-people and frustrated housewives. It’s the Daily Mail of the airwaves. Dreadful station. Cannot think of one good presenter on the station. Tell a lie, Liza Tarbuck can be quite funny and doesn’t take it all too seriously. The rest are shitehouse.

It's not the ageism thing for me. I can't listen to Steve Wright for several personal quality control reasons. But many others obviously enjoy his show and one person at the top of Radio 2 says, and I quote 'I wanted to make a change'. Apparently all her own work. Just a whim regardless of listeners. Very like the Simon Mayo decision. I can't listen to Scott Mills, the personification of bland or Sara Cox, the personification of yakky airhead northern bint. Not much left on R2 now for me.

ITV currently have got Peter Purves and Trisha Goddard debating about Steve Wright getting binned at 67 after 27 years on Radio 2 in favour of Scott Mills.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, Wrighty has had an excellent run, I’m old enough to remember him joining Radio One from Radio Luxembourg in 1980.

It’s not ageism, it’s change, which has to happen, otherwise we’d all still be waking up listening to the Hairy Cornflake.

Can’t say I’m massively bothered , he always sounds very purile on the radio & can’t interview properly to save his life

Is that 1pm PDT or UK? Might give it a go

It's a shame smart speakers weren't around when Steve Wright first started - he is and always has been tediously unfunny and astonishingly self-important dogshit. Same goes for Chris Tarrant - the piggy-eyed monotone twàt.

U.K. time.

Very good station. Something of an institution in Seattle. Well, literally an institution. You can go and visit the station, tours, music museum, library, coffee shop etc

They put on great on air live performances etc.

I really rate it.

The point is, if you don't like a radio personality, there are alternative ways to listen to the music of your chosing - and have been for many decades.
