Can we all just agree that a number of issues undoubtedly fed into this clusterfxxk.

A number of Liverpool fans will have chanced it with tickets they knew were fake. However, it clearly looks like there was ridiculously bad organisation of crowd control leading to genuine frustration from well behaved fans and the response from French police was heavy handed.

I do sometimes wince at the idiocy of some fellow football fans but trying to immediately lay all the blame at the door of the fans is out of order.

It all comes down to personal responsibility as opposed to herd mentality.

Arguably, Hillsborough was the result of all the actions of those fans in the past that saw football as the opportunity for trouble. 60s and 70s pretty much saw fights at every game and many spilling onto the pitch. The authorities then failed to take positive action. It was about containing the problem rather than eradicating it. Instead of getting rid of the trouble it was about still taking their money but fencing them in which eventually proved to be fatal at Hillsborough.

That said, it is what it is and the authorities should be better prepared.

Touts are scum. It should be illegal to sell an event ticket for higher than it's face value. Any selling fake tickets should get custodial sentences. It can't be beyond the realms of modern policing to track down those that produce them on a mass scale and bang them up.

The ‘thousands’ quote is from UEFA. So you believe the PR of that organization rather than support the investigation called for by LFC. There are also stories of journalists being forced to delete footage of inappropriate behaviour by the French police. I would rather be a dull pedant focusing on the facts than someone who posts the stuff you are posting.

Nah the troubles at Heysel was "brought about" by English fans wanting to kill locals and Italian fans which eventually led them to getting crushed against a wall. Your narrative is the same as when Nobby Cybergoat called English colonialism a "faux pas". You really have to be a very sad level of nationalistic to be unable to see the flaws of your own nation and fellow countrymen. And yes, that goes for nationalists from other countries (defo including Sweden) as well - always embarrassing how they put the blame on foreigners or belittle serious incidents atrocities.

i'm not condoning it at all mate , football violence is a worldwide problem , it's currently getting worse , it's not restricted to LFC supporters , just as colonialism is not limited to the English , the Dutch , Spanish, Portuguese, Belgians, French all had a go and were aided in the slave trade by many African chiefs and Arab traders , it's a fact that seems to be largely brushed over , The English must appear to be the root of all evil , well , sorry old boy , that's just not the case.

No reason for UEFA to make false claims. The heavy handed French policing is a given and neccesary reaction following the bottleneck of fans with fake tickets. UEFA will have turnstyle data, it is not an unsubstantiated claim is it.

UEFA claimed the delay to kick off was due to fans arriving late.

If you think tear gassing football fans (including children) is a ‘necessary reaction following a bottleneck of fans’ then we don’t have much common ground. You are also still making unsubstantiated claims as to the cause of the problem being fake tickets and are just taking UEFA’s word for it rather than wait for the results of an independent investigation. We have been here before with Liverpool fans, haven’t we. What an embarrassing thread for a Brighton fan living in Merseyside.

regardless of who produced the ordinance i was told by people at the time that the chants were what they were , this has been corroborated a number of times since by different people who were there that evening.

And the liverpool fans wouldn't have been giving it back! 6 of one half a dozen of the other only the wall that collapsed was on the Juventus side. A twist of fate and it could have been the liverpool fans allocated that section.

No mention anywhere of Belgium fans bragging about exocets.

I hadn't even noticed your location, unlucky old chap. I'm sure you will look forward to the independent report, yawn.

Yep ... some big issues and not what I'd expect from a mod.

This is my last post. I've been thinking about it for a while - but have just sent a message to Bozza asking him to delete my account.

Unfortunately it’s not possible to put mods on “ignore”.

Have not read all of this but has it been proved there were 1000s of fake tickets.
