If Biss goes this summer which seems more than likely so be it. We move on and as long as deal suits club then all good. He will be missed. Lose Biss Lamptey Trossard Cuca Sanches this summer then it's a problem. Hopefully we may only lose the 1!?

mate , if that lot go for the right money then Tony gets a large portion of his initial outlay on the ground and training centre back in his pocket but the team will be in tatters and virtual relegation fodder , i'm still hoping Biss stays as we finished the season so strongly and i reckon with Undav and the Japanese lad thrown in we could be a real handful.

I imagine that Potter would be looking for the exit door too

Are they?

Bissouma has been covered all season.
Lamptey not really featured. (Granted I'm expecting a massive season from him next)
Trossard completely disappeared for 6 months.

That leaves Cucu and Sanchez needing replacing from the team that finished 9th, and somewhere close to £200m to do it with.

Obvs I am playing devil's advocate as it's a bloody stupid idea, just saying doing it doesn't automatically equate to relegation fodder.

our dip in form coincided with Biss going missing ( when his imminent departure became news of the moment), my suggestion that Señor Caciedo be pulled in at that time was scoffed at by a few saying he lacked experience despite playing against the likes of Brazil and Argentina , well lo and behold when Señor C arrives he hits the ground running and we finish the season like a train , the current squad is exciting to say the least and we have the two USG lads to shoe horn in , if Señor C is a straight replacement for Bissouma ( we turned west ham without Biss second half) and no one else leaves them i'm well happy , if Biss and Cucurella leave for a combined 90 mill i'm slightly less happy , if we sell more than 2 of our "star" players i'll be a bit sad.

Bissouma is the one player we can replace without additional recruitment.
To be honest I'm hoping he does go this summer (for a decent fee).

£40m in the pot for recruitment would be ideal.

It's not often a long term plan is laid out AND completed without any changes.

Not sure whether this is allowed.....
Our dip in form coincided with his arrest.
His form obviously took a hit, but I also think it may have been unsettling to the group.
There has been far less camaraderie from him and from the rest of the squad towards him since then.

Not making a comment on the event itself, but I think it may have undermined his position within the team.

He has deleted stuff from Insta in the past. I wouldn't read much into it. He'll go for the right fee. Same as the last 2 x windows

Having 200m to spend is compromised by having a realistic wage structure. We're not going to pay 70m on someone who will accept 70k per week.

that's not how i see it , i think he sat out 3 maybe 4 games on the bench then when he came back was obviously a bit subdued but turned in a few decent performances before the the villa interest , i could be right , you could be right , we both could be wrong .......he didn't look particularly jubilant at the end of the WH game , read into that what you will .....same as BW , if he wants out the tatty bye , if they can get him on another 3 years and build on this current squad i think we could be in for more exciting times next season.....UTA.

I’d counter this with …he seemed to be enjoying himself immensely in the end of season walk around….and particularly when he was on his own facing the North stand as they did the Bissouma chant

Seems like a complex character to me. I'm not sure I can second-guess how he's feeling or where he's headed based on the very little I know about him.

Would absolutely love him to stay but I think the club has been clever in how it has created a situation where, although there's no direct replacement, his exit would be mitigated by the availability of some exceptional midfielders, already in the squad.

Again. At least if he does go we'll be - thankfully- spared the amateur psychology after every game, goal and instagram post.

There's a couple of sage heads on the Villa forum saying they'd rather have Caicedo and Mwepu. Whatever happens, we're not going to suddenly have a huge Bissouma shaped hole in our team

They must have missed Moder then.
We are very well stocked in midfield.
Ali Mac was fantastic on Sunday, and he played a similar role against Palace at home. Surprisingly strong in the tackle that lad.

Not sure I understand people saying we won't miss Bissouma if/when he goes. Moder will be out 50% of next season, Mwepu's injury record is not great and Lallana is 'class' and improves our possession he does not give a lot of positive outcomes. We will miss him but if we get £30-40 million then that's good as that's the club's financial model. I am not sure what our u23s have in terms of midfield , Leonard is possibly the most prominent but a long way off.

Yeah I don't either but Bissouma has always been generally under rated by a lot of our fan base as evidenced by the fact he didn't get 100% of the votes in last season's POTS vote when he was by FAR our best player. He's comfortably the best footballer we've had in 40 years and we will miss him massively when he goes.
