TBH penalty shootouts were way more fun when after the first 3 takers they were shite

Now it's over to Roy Keane for some supportive, sympathetic analysis of United's performance.

Connorly consoling the man United player at the end.
He looked like a relieved man.
Glad he didn’t miss a pen though. It would have destroyed him.

AC allowing 8 players to take a penalty in front of him speaks volumes!

... About good management skills of Wilder , yes.

Nothing more to see here.

Abit concerning that a 'Premier League' striker wasn't in the first 9 to take a penalty!

It’s not though is it? Wilder knows Connolly is already under the pump from the Boro fans and he’s clearly trying to build his confidence up, it makes total tactical and logical sense to hold back a young striker who is struggling and let the more experienced players step up.

Brilliant result.

I think it’s very telling Connolly didn’t take a penalty. It’s very fair to assume he didn’t want to take one which says a lot about his confidence right now. Whether you like him or not that is a real shame.

I noticed AC consoling the United player as well, so quickly after the shootout finished and thought it showed a touch of class 👏

15 great penalties there, that should be replayed at training sessions across the prem on how to take them.

The fact that AC didn't miss could well be a turning point in his stay.
The club will be buzzing at the result which will also help their league form and therefore help lift AC.

Let's hope he can get a couple of tap-ins to help his confidence.
