This would be an absolute must watch if the Belgians didn't have that crappy end of season play off system to decide the league champions.

I'll watch it anyway obviously.

As I understand it, even with the playoffs system, this is an important game - the bigger USG's points lead before the playoffs, the better position they'll be in for the playoffs.

Yup, just looked at what happened last season:

Club Brugge ended the regular season with 76 points. Then Antwerp on 60, Anderlecht 58, and Genk 56.

That then converted to starting the playoffs as follows:

Brugge 38 points
Antwerp 30 points
Anderlecht 29 points
Genk 28 points

That 10 point advantage Brugge had over Genk ended up being pivotal: Genk absolutely stormed the playoffs (5 wins from 6 played), but ended tied for points with Brugge and Brugge won it on tiebreaker.

So tonight is still a big game for USG. Every 2 points earned in the regular season is worth 1 for the playoffs, and going into the playoffs with a points advantage is, well ... an advantage worth having.

It’s a good system for a play off and keeps teams fighting for every point and not resting players, even if they may have already mathematically qualified. Shame we didn’t have something like this in 15/16!

Vanzeir through with just the keeper to beat and fluffed his lines. Not sure how he did that. All USG atm.

Hesgoal is a ruin tonight. The commentary (in English) and the vid are so out of synch only LSD could make it intelligible.
