Watched the midfield yesterday
Mac - 8 looked really good when he took over midfield from Lallana, never saw him as a CM until yesterday but maybe he could be running the show, really willing to get stuck in.
Lallana 8 - you only noticed how good he is when he isn’t playing - hope it’s a minor injury and he is back on Tuesday
Moder 7.5 starting to look really classy, very comfortable on ball in tight positions
Gross - forget penalty - 5 something not right with him yesterday - just don’t look like he wanted to be in the game, I know he is slow but he wasn’t even making effort. Very surprised he came out for second half

Not when Caciedo starts, has looked impressive when I’ve seen him, but admittedly not PL matches.

I think that’s a bit harsh on Moder. The crossbar effort was a delicious bit of skill that I suspect most wouldn’t have even tried let alone almost scored with. Technically he is a supremely gifted player. Goals will come for him.

Think Mac has shown signs all season he is a legit CM rather than a number 10 (which he also excels at).

Sanchez -6.5 Little to do - but did it well. No chance with the goal

Burn 7.5 - Absolute revelation in his preferred position. Very good again
Webster 7 - Strong performance. Good to have him back.
Joel 7- The usual assured performance from him.
Cucurella 7 - Decent as always
Moder 8 - Very good performance from him. Lively all game
Mac A 8.5 - Superb. Very physical all game. Got right in to them, won the ball back several times. The boy has adapted to English football and is going from strength to strength.
Gross 5 - I hate to say it, put time is up for this legend. Not even breaking out the turn these days. The pen? well let's not go there.
Lallana - 6.5 Decent while he was on. Did the job required of him.
Tross 6.5 - Typically failed to score a chance which was miles easier than the one he has buried this season. But Decent overall.
Maupay 7 - Welbeck would have buried his cross if Andersen hadn't. Always a nuisance, we play so much better with him.

Lamptey 6.5 - Nice play, but Guehi did enough to keep him from hurting them.
Solly 6.5 - A couple of decent crosses and a woeful shot. Took his man on consistently.
Welbz - 6.5 - It will be good to have him and Maups on the field for longer periods.

Sanchez 7.5 vital save from Webster’s? almost point blank attempt on our goal, unflappable in our passing game when closed down.

Veltman 8
Burn 8
Webster 8
Cucurella 9 MOTM

Gross 6
Moder 8.5 - creative & a nightmare for Hughes.
Lallana 7
Trossard 7.5 - shadowed by 2 opponents, but they couldn’t maintain it.
Mac Allister 8.5 - creative & a good job on Alice Band.

Maupay 7

Tariq 8 - marked by 2 or 3 players. Poetry in motion.
Solly 7 - liked his cameo plus that stunning cross.
Welbeck 6

Potter 8 - personally, I’d rather Gross didn’t start. But orchestrated us bossing the game, subs hit the right note.

Sanchez was a long way from his near post before the cross went in for his goal. Not sure if that was a misjudgment, or intended to try and close down the attacker. But it meant he couldn’t get near Gallagher’s shot.
Thoughts?

The crossbar was a half chance, I would expect most players to try that, so I disagree from that perspective. He executed it well, but was unlucky.

The one on one was presentable and he seems to miss one a game at the moment - I expected him to finish that.

However, it is positive he at least gets in the positions and as you say hopefully goals will come….

Mainly solid performances across the starting 11. McAllister, Moder and Webster caught my eye. Trossard seems to have gone down a notch but not surprising as he was outstanding autumn time.

I think we may the RWB we need, Chariots Offiah looked the real deal last week but ideally a bit longer with Lamptey would be nice

I call Cucurella The Sheepdog. He doesn't leave the opposition alone - ever! Easily player of the season so far. 8/10 every game.
