Happy to consider voting for Sir Keir next time round . Labour must have some extremely talented minds in their midst to be able to achieve increased spending on public services without increasing taxes

:lolol:

Not sure where you read that. It isn't in the manifesto for the next general election, I'm 110% certain of that. Sounds like one of Jezza's flights of fancy.

Still, from the party that does always promise to cut tax, and as reported on a platform not noted for it's pro-labour stance (unlike the socialist BBC):

Standing up and admitting past misjudgments should be something to be respected rather than belittled I would have thought .

Of course offering alternative solutions will always attract mockery from some though that won't stop me from from persevering and expanding my understanding of complex situations

So when did this moment of realisation that the refugees needed helping actually hit and make you change your mind ???

Extra police patrols at Tenby skate park after ‘men approached young girls

CONCERNED locals in Tenby have taken to social media to write about concerns of inappropriate behaviour – between males they think may have been asylum seekers currently housed at Penally Army Camp – and young girls in Tenby. The police have said they are investigating the matter.

Witnesses have said that young girls have been approached by males while at the skate park in Tenby. The Home Office has said that the camp will be used to house up to 250 male asylum seekers whilst their claims are processed due to a shortage of alternative accommodation, caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Reports circulating on Facebook have claimed to have direct knowledge that male residents of the camp have been talking and exchanging contact information with local school girls, some suggesting that they were in school uniform when talking with the men.

A Libyan refugee was facing life behind bars yesterday after dramatically confessing to killing three men in a knife rampage weeks before he was due to face trial.

Khairi Saadallah, 26, should have been in prison for an appalling catalogue of violence. But he was freed early on appeal to embark on a stabbing spree just 16 days later, killing three men and injuring three others who were sitting in a Reading park during the lockdown. Officers went to check on Saadallah hours before he launched his rampage after an alert was raised as part of his ongoing psychiatric care at a nearby mental health hospital.

Several police and psychiatric nurses, known as a ‘street triage’ team, run by Thames Valley Police and the NHS, came across him on the street around midnight, but he managed to convince them he was well. What they may not have known at the time was that while behind bars Saadallah had chatted with fellow inmates about making bombs. He told fellow inmates that he ‘wanted to kill people’, and he is said to have boasted that he had fought both for and against Islamic State.

Rape suspect who 'attacked a woman in a London hotel' is bailed to live in a migrant camp where fellow asylum seeker is accused of harassment

The suspect, who's said to be from Sudan, was arrested by police on November 8
Was released on bail and sent to live at former Napier Barracks, Folkestone, Kent
Source said it 'beggared belief' that the two migrants were at former base on bail

In a separate incident, another migrant housed at the barracks has been arrested for alleged sexual harassment of a female charity worker. The 30-year-old was arrested this week over claims that he sent explicit messages and images to the victim. He has been allowed out on bail and is still living at the camp.

Schizophrenic Albanian woman who stabbed seven-year-old girl to death at random in front of her parents in park on Mother's Day was brought to UK by people smugglers and had been in and out of institutions

Eltiona Skana denied murdering Emily Jones but pleaded guilty to manslaughter
The paranoid schizophrenic killed the seven-year-old in a park in Bolton in March
Skana, 30, was smuggled into the UK in a lorry and was sectioned repeatedly
Though she refused treatment, Skana was released back into the community
Prosecution today dropped the case due to no realistic prospect of a conviction

One of 69 Albanians caught hiding in fishing vessel convicted with murder. We can reveal that one of those on the vessel and charged was a man with a murder conviction. He had been released from a maximum security prison in Albania in January after completing a 15-year sentence for shooting a woman at her home in 1997 following an argument. Her eight-year-old daughter witnessed the shooting. It is understood the man, who the Sunday Express is not naming, is now in an immigration removal centre. It is not known if he has applied for asylum. The Home Office declined to confirm whether it was aware of his conviction.

Reading stabbings: Man motivated by 'religious jihad'

Saadallah arrived in the UK as an asylum seeker in 2012, having fled the civil war in his home country of Libya in North Africa. The court heard the defendant, who had been refused asylum, had been involved with militias as part of the uprising against Muammar Gaddafi. Between 2013 and 2020 he was repeatedly arrested and convicted of various offences in the UK.

While in HMP Bullingdon, Saadallah had associated with radical preacher Omar Brooks who is associated with banned terror group Al-Muhajiroun, the court heard. He was released from the prison in June, days before the attack. Saadallah had been due to be deported, but was told by the government circumstances in Libya at the time were a "legal barrier".

I'm guessing it was recently judging by this very small selection from your 100+ your previous posts on this thread alone ??? Maybe this was the point you changed a couple of weeks ago ?

Certainly this RIP for the Liverpool hospital bomber seems a significant shift from the position you've held on refugees for a significant number of years. Was it something you read in your frequently referenced Daily Mail that swung it

Maybe you could tell us why these people making a illegal crossing of the English Channel would want to destroy any form of ID ?

Regards
DF

May I?

You are asking the wrong question. The question is: Why do people crossing the channel in dangerous boats not have any I.D?

Why don't you have a go at answering before I give you the answer? .......

I am sure you would benefit from meeting some of these immigrants. Many could help you with your written English and no doubt reassure you they had not crossed the Engliah channel because it doesn’t exist.

It’s rather easy. But I overestimated you. My bad. The answer is they do not destroy their own documents, people smugglers confiscate all their documents in order to coerce them into modern slavery upon arrival at their destination. The vast majority of people trying to cross do not destroy their own documents. Because at least 70% of those making the crossing are legitimately fleeing war and persecution.

And for the last time, I do not encourage people crossing the channel by unsafe means. The exact opposite. It’s in your own interests not to accuse me of that again.

Well if you're not encouraging them you'd be happy to see them not crossing in the first place , as for their ID being taken from them dream on,

8, 000 + of them now in 4 star Hotel at a cost of millions to the tax payer no wonder tensions are running high maybe you would be prepared to pay more in tax to subsidise them seems fair for those that want them here ?

Do you think it will cost more than the Vote Leave government has spent on the storage of unusable PPE supplied by their mates?

I would politely suggest you familiarise yourself with the facts, then we can have a discussion.

Well, it was. They don’t destroy their documentation. With the current system, you can’t stop people crossing the channel but you can react with a humanitarian response. Until the government changes its policies we are just treading the same old murky waters. Let’s wait and see what Patel comes up with next. An effective, humane strategy or more blaming, shaming and waffle.

All of this 'whataboutery' does not answer the question posed.

Its strange some folk getting all hot under the collar about some hotels rooms when we have government that has embarked on project that has customer the UK economy about £200B over the last few years

Its only money, Rishi will print some more
