And Knocky and Ulloa and Kayal.

I think if the deal is good for us, Uncle Tony doesn’t mind when it is.

Well yes. But TB having a reputation as someone who doesn't like buying in the winter helps prevent selling clubs from ratcheting up the price unduly. Best not to shout about it

It depends what you mean by "seriously ****ed". Clearly it would derail our season, but I'd still expect us to have way too much to get involved in a relegation scrap. Trossard could move up top, Connolly is still deemed good enough for this squad and besides, we are tough to score against. I'd back us to stay up even if we made no further signings even if Maupay/Welbeck were out for the season.

A good value striker though, well yes please if possible.

TBF I don’t expect a relegation struggle this season but we really need to start thinking and behaving like a top half Prem team. That includes having good cover at striker which we clearly do NOT have.

Not necessarily. I think what you are failing to recognise is that not everyone shares your perverted hoarding strikers-fetisch

I think you fail to have any sense

Brighton currently struggling. They're only in fourth place FFS. Their clueless recruitment team and measly owner have failed to prepare and, as a consequence, need to prepare to fail.

With Adam Armstrong I think it would be 3-0 tomorrow

Maybe true or maybe we'll be fine, but your f'ing consistent posting shouting the same line again and again about strikers is fecking tedious.

We all know what you think. Do you realise no one on here can actually do anything about it? No matter how many bloody times you whinge, moan, complain or how many toys are ejected from your pram.

Again, I'd take issue with this. Behaving like a top half Prem team? Which top half Prem team? Half of them are bankrolled by foreign states or oil magnates and not many of the other half (Spurs, West Ham, Arsenal, Everton, Leicester) are doing anything so special that they are guaranteed to finish top half year on year except to of course be much a bigger club than we are. Of your top 10 clubs, only Leicester are remotely close to being our size and because they've won 2 major trophies in 5 years, they're far more of a draw than we are for quality players.

Personally I'm quite happy with the way my club do things. I can appreciate it can be frustrating because we all know that with a top goal scorer we'd be flying, but to get him in would mean smashing the wage structure. Aside from Jamie Vardy, these players tend not to be plucked from non-league and then go on to ruin the league 18 months later. Besides, we have 2 or 3 players on loan who could come through the ranks and be exactly that player - Mitoma scored 3 for top of the league USG last week, for example.

I doubt it. If Maupay is injured, suspended, or loses form, we are seriously ****ed. Anyone (including those at the club) can see that.

Looks like Mitoma might be an option however, it really is time for us to sign the striker we’ve been after for years.

I have every faith in the clubs scouting, Nunez is now showing what our scouts saw as he smashed up Barcelona. £50m minimum for him now so we’ll never see him in the stripes.

If Bayo is the man, then FFS let’s go in hard and take him in January. French clubs have no money and he is probably on £10k per week, his club will be willing to sell and the player won’t demand an obscene Edouard level salary. It’s not often a top 4 EPL team comes in for you, chance of a lifetime for the lad.

Lallana, to Trossard then to Mwepu
For tonight I'm a gonna see the boys score-o
Drink a beer, eat a pie and be gay-o

Again, I real hope, like our other young stars, Mitoma makes the enormous step up to Prem level, but (1) he is a winger, not a striker, and (2) our young strikers are probably 1 or 2 seasons away from making the grade (I hope I am wrong on this BTW).

Our need is now, not in the future, hence we need to invest in Jan IMHO.

No. You need to stop thinking Withdean, start thinking AmEx. Stop thinking avoid the drop. Start thinking top 10. This is your chairman, Sir Tony’s, vision. Not my personal pie in the sky nonsense.

Too many on here not only suffered the Archer, Belotti, Gillingham, and Withdean years, but can’t shake the small club mentality. Yes, know where you came from, but it is time to realise we have an amazing chance here to become a ‘big’ club, permanently positioned in the ‘best league in the world’ TM, and occasionally troubling the European spots, cup finals, etc. If Leicester, then why not us?

Sorry, but you and others need to drag yourself out of the ‘we just can’t do it, constant relegation struggle’ mentality.

We are in touching distance IMHO. The time to strengthen is from a position of strength, I.e. now (Jan).

Mitoma is a winger BTW.

Every time someone disputes the striker need (often) do you call their posts tedious? Try thinking before you post, maybe offering balance?

It's a damn shame Kerry Mayo is no longer playing.

Thought it was interesting Potter took off Maupay yesterday but failed to bring on AC. Just proves how weak we are in this position. We needed goals and the genius didn’t think his only backup striker could contribute. That tells me all I need to know about our shortcomings in this area of the pitch.
