We’ve bagged 13 points from six matches, with only one defeat and yet it doesn’t feel like we’ve actually played all that well for any length of time? If we actually start playing we could really think about kicking on and moving up from our 15th to 17th slot.

Just got home. Thought we were dog all game to be honest and comprehensively out played but we had more than enough luck in the bank due after last season so F them.

Thought Llalana and Gross were particularly poor in the middle in that first half and both were very lucky to still be on the pitch at the end. Bis can’t come back soon enough.

Better than us ‘yes’, comprehensively ‘no’. The stats show that over 95 mins we were pretty even.
They were however much better than us in the first 20 to 25 mins.

They remind me of Huddersfield in their first season. High press, balls out football that lasted a dozen games then it was back foot all the way. If they loose either Gallagher or Zaha then they are screwed. With his style of play Gallagher won’t last the season, just too intense for 38 games.

Drab performance. Ponderous at times. Missed Biss, obviously. They seemed to be on top first half, but we had the better chances before conceding a dim penalty.
Suspect the injuries spoilt a fairly conservative game plan that wasn't shaping up too badly. Having to waste subs replacing Alzate and Welbeck meant we couldn't make changes to go for it in the closing stages. All of which makes getting a point even more pleasing. Being able to scrape results when we're below par is a very good sign!

FWIW on the international TV feed, Andy Townsend and Muzza were unanimous that Welbeck should have had a penalty. One angle shows him being clipped. Personally, I thought it still would have been soft but wouldn't have minded :)

I thought the first half v Leicester was one of the best halves of football we have played in the PL. But one half isn't enough

Results are everything, plenty for Potter to work on obvs in a lacklustre game. Point nearer where we want to go this season which is hopefully well clear of bottom 6

I’m guessing that our preparations weren’t ideal, given the uncertainty over Biss’s fitness. We weren’t great, but I felt that we coped well with their early pressure and were getting more into the game until the needless penalty. Thought we started the second half more positively. Palace are much improved and defended well. Not convinced that our performance was necessarily attributable to Biss’s absence, but perhaps Lallana would have had a more creative role alongside Biss. Overall, delighted with the point.

From my view in the stand we looked poor. Gave the ball away a lot and were panicking under their pressure. For a bit better last 20 mins but we still lacked any quality anywhere on the pitch. Anyway who cares we robbed them back at last.

That Maupay finish is a thing of beauty. The keeper was only just in front of his 6 yard line, to execute that chip was exquisite. Perfection.

And to see the horror on the gaggles of saff landan feral RATBOYS in the stands....oh man, I can dine out on that for months. Glorious.

Finally got Moder on when Alzate was injured. Should have been that way at HT?

Should have been from the start. Gross was well off it, we'd have been much more compact and competitive in the middle had Moder started there, IMO. He's a far more natural replacement for Biss.

That’s it exactly. We’re seeing moments of real promise interspersed among some solid but unremarkable stuff. What we’ve gained on last season seems to be a dogged determination that we will take something from the match. If we can make those patches of brilliance less… er… patchy we could really be on to something.

Absolutely sublime finish and the mark of a striker brimming with confidence - especially to do that in the 95th minute after having had very few opportunities up until the one that mattered finally presented itself. That's 4 goals in 6 now.

One of the best things about the goal, other than the quality of the finish, the timing, the fact that it felt like a win and the opponents, was a comment on the Palace board which went something like, "FFS, that would have been our throw-in instead of a free kick if Guaita hadn't faked injury...."

I do wonder how much Gross is in the team for his set pieces.

Yeah, its undoubtedly a factor. And I'm not down on the guy, but he can look desperately pedestrian, he was largely anonymous in open play. Palace dictated for long periods because we didn't have anyone in CM who could anticipate and put a foot in to break them up. I think Moder in with Lallana would have seen us get more control and possession.

But it turned out alright.
