[Albion] Yes we have injuries but tactically that was garbage, again.

Precisely this.

Honestly, some of the bollocks on NSC at the moment is breathtaking.

it's like reading people's explanation for exactly how God created the universe in 7 days, complete with diagrams and costings.

We know absolutely f*** all about what goes on behind the scenes. We have not had disaffected players weeping in the arms of 'journalists', or making veiled comments on twatter.

Christ.
If Bloom and Barber appointed God there would still be some on here moaning. As in “We’ve given him 7 days to create the best footballing side in the world and we’re still missing a left back. FFS!! God out! Get Dyche in.”

Was it really THAT bad? Brentford parked the bus for 90 minutes. Apart from maybe 3 meaningful counter attacks they were camped into their defensive third the entire game, which is pretty unheard of for a home side to do. In reality when the home side does that the game is always going to be difficult with few clear cut chances. You only win those games if you have a player that can create some real magic, which would usually be Mitoma, or Enciso/Pedro but they're just back from injury. Im not saying it was a amazing performance, or one you'd tell the grandchildren about, but there's some real exaggeration on how bad it was going on. If Welbeck slots home that chance at the end then im sure most would be saying it was pretty solid away performance.
Precisely.

It was a dull watch, and I actually offered my pal Bob the option of switching over to another game.

But we weren't 'bad'.

Maybe my mind is too highly trained to abandon nuance and see everything in black and white. Yes, yes, that must be it.

How come they looked more threatening in attack than we did then? I was shitting myself right up until the whistle that they would score on the break. We defended well in fairness.
Hypothetically speaking, if we played exactly as Brentford did in order to cancel them out what a fantastic, thrilling game that would have been - a bit of Hughton ball in our second season in the PL. People would have walked out at halftime demanding their money back. Seriously though, only one team last night tried to play football. Of course we were inept at times but as the game wore on we were at least improving in going forward with purpose, even if the end product didn’t come to fruition. Yes, I too was concerned that Brentford would sucker punch us at the end for a thoroughly undeserved win. I’m glad I’m not a Bees fan after that offering.

Having a few players injured doesn’t make it an injury crisis, we are only actually short of options in one area which is on the wings. We have options in CM (Gross, Lallana, Baleba, Moder) and up front.

You said;

Bar Mitoma and March, we don’t even have that many injuries TBH

All I did was respond saying we have others out injured- Hinshlewood, Milner, Ferguson and Gilmour and also a half fit Enciso

Yes we have replacements in midfield but having seven first team players out injured is having an effect

He seemed completely uninterested in doing anything on that final day as well. Seemed to have given up to take a rest.

Plus your leading goalscorer playing his first match for two months….and the other in form one not really able to do three matches in a week

Aye…and the OP criticises Brighton for having lack of ambition lol
We did lack ambition in the final third and if you can’t see that it’s because you are choosing not to for whatever reason. Time after time we progress to the final third and turned back and recycled the ball.

Only after Lamptey came on did anyone try and take on a fullback. We showed very limited attacking ambition to say otherwise is patently nonsense.

In the absence of Mitoma and March, Lamptey was the nearest thing we had to a winger. In that respect he was everything that Veltman, er, wasn't. Not Veltman's fault in the least. Maybe the club could invest in some spare winger capacity over the Summer, that's one main area that is really costing us this season

I agree, not Veltmans fault at all but that’s why I was calling out the tactics. To end up in a scenario where the width on the right is being provided by Veltman is clearly not ideal for breaking down a team that sit deep.

Between Barco, Ensico. Estupinan, Lamptey, Adringa Fecundo and Pedro there must have been some way we could have created a scenario with genuine width options on both sides.

People are quick to cite the fact that March and Mitoma are missing but March has been out since October and Mitoma has been missing most the season, there must be more effective tactics to negate their loss.

Three goals in six games is poor, I don’t know the answer but RDZ doesn’t seem to either.

Checked eyesight…..nope all ok here…..sorry but that ambition bit is a bit of a joke….for whatever reason

Have a look at the post match interview with Dunk he tries too explain it….sorry but i think your use of the word ambition is wrong

Mitoma has 26 appearances this season so hardly missing most of the season.

He's missed half the season. The point is still valid. Our form dipped when the injuries started when Europe kicked off and has never recovered
Half the season is not most of the season. I accept your point and agree, injuries have cost us dearly.

What does "lacking ambition" in the final third mean ? A lack of desire to attack ? We certainly had that, had 24 shots!

we certainly lacked goals last night, and arguably multiple decent chances, but not sure what you mean when you argue we lacked attacking ambition. (All that really means is a strong desire to succeed / exceed - who would say Dunk / Pedro / Baleba etc didn’t demonstrate that ). We attacked most of the game, had nearly 70% of the ball and played the ball in / around that final third for most of the game. It was Brentford after all who were playing for the point and “demonstrated no attacking ambition” . So Fine - we didn’t manage to get to the byline , or put too many crosses in etc - but we certainly demonstrated the ambition to do so, however ineffective it turned out.
So im in the camp of saying that’s therefore a good performance .

Brentford had five defenders and one defensive midfielder out with injury against us yesterday and they have adapted and done well anyway its part of the job as a PL manager if injuries would excuse bad results no one would get sacked or questioned

We've already signed one, haven't we - Ibrahim Osman (two if Barco is going to end up playing there).
