Except that having lost 6 of their first 7, England have won 2 of the last 3...over the last 4 years, England have moved from a 14% record to a 30% record.
That’s a positive I guess. But in terms of big games and big teams, we’ve only beaten Spain in ‘96. That result aside, we have a 100% record of losing any 1/4 final, 1/2 final and final to tournament favourites. This is such an advantage for our opposition, they just need the draw.

In this age of endless analysis, false nines and tactical oneupmanship, what struck me was how simply lightweight Spain looked. These aren’t Xavi/Iniesta level players - yet - but they looked what I’d call a “soft touch”.

Deserved to go out, it was an incredibly bad performance.
