And agree with previous posts deep dive.

Another is"due diligence " when used in sentences where the word is used out of concept.

We are where we are
Protect our bottom line
Give me a heads up
We're behind the 8-ball [god I hate that one]
Are you part of the problem, or part of the solution?

Couple of favs:
Houston we have a problem
Failure is not an option

And good ole cricket ones:
Now we're on a sticky wicket
Before Close of Play [not business]
Throw them a googly
That's taken the shine off the ball
Lets not be on the back foot with this one

I have my own company but when I meet clients or developers I hear a lot of the following

Think outside the box
Touch base
Moving forward
On the radar

There is a chairman of a big developer who talks in pure riddles, he seriously comes out with stuff and everyone just nods but in private they will admit to not having the first clue what he meant

You have CLIENTS? What are you? A rent boy?..no,hang on, your in IT I'll bet.

I'd like to float something past you - caught myself saying this mid sentence the other day and had to go for a sit down, sorry I had to have some down time.

Hear this kind of rubbish on the train all the time, I can't figure out how people get away with such nonsense.

An old boss used to end meetings with either:

Remember, fail to prepare, prepare to fail

or

Remember, loose lips sink ships

Where I used to work we had a lot of "wolf nearest the sledge" and "crocodile nearest the canoe" meaning solve the immediate problem first. Our team decided we had to kill the zombie nearest the door.

One I hate is talking about resource when you mean people.

Neither here nor there
All the idioms we use in everyday language were invented by someone at some point. I bet there were people who came out of Shakespeare plays tutting at the jargon and highfalutin wordplay.

The problem as I see it is not people employing new metaphors, but not really understanding what they're saying, or saying it too often.

I'm not sure "run it up the flagpole and see who salutes" was ever used beyond the world of sitcoms.

Is 'out of concept' one of these phrases or did you mean out of context?!?!
