Listening to some head of Liverpool supporters club this morning, I very much got the feeling that they want/expect a much bigger name than Martinez. Quite why I don't know as they are falling behind quite a few prem clubs and are some distance away from putting in a serious title challenge.

thought about Martinez to Liverpool at 16s but decided not to. Damn.

Just as the news broke on ssn he was still 4/1 and he is now 8/11 I missed it

Martinez spoke to Villa last season, doesn't mean anything.

The supporters may want a bigger name, but they are at the moment, a second tier team within the Premier league. Granted looking at their history, they are a massive massive club. But not being in the Champions league will put some of the big guns off. I think that somebody like Martinez would be a good fit in scouse land.

Here they come. The next 'tranche' of jobs created by the bigger clubs.

Wigan, maybe Norwich, Swansea, as well as West Brom. They are the ones we really need to worry about. Aston Villa at a stretch.

Perhaps that's exactly why they want a bigger name?

I'm not sure any Prem team will give a guy who finished 10th in the Championship a chance

I think that is a very negative way of describing someone who took a team from struggling in League One, to the title, and 10th in his first season in Championship. And I don't think those clubs I have mentioned will agree with you. Although I would love to be wrong.

Poyet could not be in better shape, personally. He's at a good club. He has done very well so far. He is likely to do as well if not better next season. He will almost certainly get funds to strengthen. His reputation is high, and rising. His media profile is good, and agent very active.

There are just certain, key jobs we need to see filled, it's not many just three or four. Then that would be it until about October, when it could all start again with a sacking somewhere.
